Hi stone stomper, I guess things could of been worse, lucky you knew about it when it happened! What new tyres did you put on? Hope you don't have any more little surprises for the rest of your trip! Have a good one!

Cheers.

Hi Burnsy, I wanted BFG A/T like the car has but had limited choice in Alice so went for the Toyo A/T so will see how they go, on the up side I have found better fuel economy than the mud terrains that were on the van.

Hi Stomper,

Nasty looking blow out; heart in the mounth stuff!

Out of curiosity, how old was the tyre? Originals on the van, so 5 years or so i guess?

What sort of pressure did you have in them; what sort of speed were you doing when it went bang?

Cheers,

Al

Hi Al, doing 100km/h and the pressure on the monitor was 45psi at 30deg temp and the tyres were aroun 4.5years old but the crap brand Jayco use.

Nasty blow out Stone Stomper.
So am I correct in saying two of you had a blow out? The first post looks like your well modded up van, but who's van is the second pic of?

Top job Bill, I like the luggage straps as the velcro makes a loud noise when packing up early in the morning.
Here's the finishing touches (says me with fingers crossed). I've added stand-offs (2 each end) made from high pressure pvc pipe and pole clips.
The front spreader bar is tied down to drawbar with ratchet strap. The rear spreader is stapped back to the rear bumper.
Couple of windy days and it's as solid as a rock. A great van just got even better, thanks. - Bill

Just a couple of updates, new fly screens at the bed ends as they started to get holes in them and have also used a finer fly mesh to stop the sand flies coming through.

Black privacy screens and internet/mobile phone external antenna on the wind up antenna.

Hey Stone Stomper,

As usual you are full of ideas :)
A quick question: How do you find the Bikes go on the back of the van, eg Vibration etc.?

Thanks Duncan

Hi Duncan,

We have had no issues at all, I changed the bolts with the plastic handle to clamp the bikes down to H/T bolts with the same size head as the drop down legs so I can use the battery drill for both and this clamps the bikes down tight.

Great update SS. Still getting plenty of comments about the ropeless bed end set-up I copied from you. Love the new end screens, too.
