Not quite, the breakaway runs off its own battery and should supply about 15 mins of power to brakes before going flat, so no brakes when thieves arrive plus you would have no breakaway when you use it next, thieves probably wouldn't be plugging in anyway....tie lead to stake so pin is pulled as they drive off then it would apply as they drive off....
