I can hear the screams of those already who don't want to be vaccinated who would complain that their freedoms and rights are being taken from them. What about OUR freedoms who get vaccinated and do the right thing??? Why should we suffer and be restricted because some idiots don't want to be part of the team which will benefit all of us?

Exactly,....................................... I know should be in the rant thread............

The US standard railroad gauge (distance between the rails) is 4 feet, 8.5 inches. That's an exceedingly odd number.
Why was that gauge used?
Well, because that's the way they built them in England, and English engineers designed the first US railroads.
Why did the English build them like that?
Because the first rail lines were built by the same people who built the wagon tramways, and that's the gauge they used.
So, why did 'they' use that gauge then?
Because the people who built the tramways used the same jigs and tools that they had used for building wagons, which used that same wheel spacing.
Why did the wagons have that particular odd wheel spacing?
Well, if they tried to use any other spacing, the wagon wheels would break more often on some of the old, long distance roads in England . You see, that's the spacing of the wheel ruts.
So who built those old rutted roads?
Imperial Rome built the first long distance roads in Europe (including England ) for their legions. Those roads have been used ever since.
And what about the ruts in the roads?
Roman war chariots formed the initial ruts, which everyone else had to match or run the risk of destroying their wagon wheels. Since the chariots were made for Imperial Rome , they were all alike in the matter of wheel spacing. Therefore the United States standard railroad gauge of 4 feet, 8.5 inches is derived from the original specifications for an Imperial Roman war chariot. Bureaucracies live forever.
So the next time you are handed a specification/procedure/process and wonder 'What horse's ass came up with this?', you may be exactly right. Imperial Roman army chariots were made just wide enough to accommodate the rear ends of two war horses. (Two horses' asses.)
Now, the twist to the story:
When you see a Space Shuttle sitting on its launch pad, there are two big booster rockets attached to the sides of the main fuel tank. These are solid rocket boosters, or SRBs. The SRBs are made by Thiokol at their factory in Utah . The engineers who designed the SRBs would have preferred to make them a bit fatter, but the SRBs had to be shipped by train from the factory to the launch site. The railroad line from the factory happens to run through a tunnel in the mountains, and the SRBs had to fit through that tunnel. The tunnel is slightly wider than the railroad track, and the railroad track, as you now know, is about as wide as two horses' behinds.
So, a major Space Shuttle design feature, of what is arguably the world's most advanced transportation system, was determined over two thousand years ago by the width of a horse's ass. And you thought being a horse's ass wasn't important? Ancient horse's asses control almost everything......

Its School Holidays and these lucky people thought it was a good idea to go to Fraser Island, city folk on holidays like to bring the city with them though, so we have a traffic jam to get onto the (3) barge's for Fraser, this is Innskip Point, tarred road, lines marked so probably another km till they get to the dirt, so about 3 km from the barges, of course the beach will be churned up and plenty getting bogged .... might run over in the boat in the morning and have a Captain Cook.....
Dingo's will be well fed for the next couple of weeks for sure.

Yes @Drover then they will bite someone who dosnt feed them then they will be shot great place that should be for animals only
Yep,
the wise governments killed forestry and then sand mining to keep the island in its natural state. They should have allowed sand mining and forestry and completely banned tourism.

When I lived on Fraser island as a kid, we had a carpet snake under our water tank, venomous snakes, dingoes, brumbies, small turtles crawling around the lake, more fish then you could ever eat caught with pipies and sand worms harvested on the beach, and crabs by the sugar bag.
What great times I had. Evert day, a new adventure. I lived in a logging camp with three bark huts, one old caravan and a big shed to fix up the vehicles.

Not like that any more!

take care
Mike

Ever since they sealed the road from Rainbow to Innskip Point we haven't bothered going to Fraser again, too many people have spoiled it along with the cost now........

Woodgate and Elliot Heads are always hard to get into from June to October, wouldn't even think about it in holiday periods, I have a Veterans Retreat I can go to near Woodgate, great spot on the Isis River but Mrs D gets eaten alive by sand flies so not often we visit.......
Daughter heading to Adels Gorge, son was there a few weeks back said it wasn't all that crowded but then he's a city fella now, too bluddy hot out there now for me..........
WA mate has made it back to Wait Awhile lucky he hung about in QLD instead of running into NSW as he had planned or he would certainly be up the creek..........
Nice sunny day just too much wind here and has been for a few weeks.......

Might be some Bargains around when the Bali brigade get going again.
Im not convince the 2nd hand caravan market will explode. I just cant see international jetsetters suddenly deciding camping is the next best thing, and then casualy drop $100k on a box on wheels to make it all happen, and many would need a tow veh on top of that. I know plenty of people who dont camp, and they dont camp because camping horrifies them. London, Paris, New York ... Bendigo Big4?. Not convinced
