Well bugger me, received a phone call on Wednesday (just after a successful fishing trip) from a company in Melbourne, he said xxxx suggested I give you a call, xxxx wants me to buy him out of the company and he suggested I talk to you. He offered me a job looking after their largest customer (who I used to work for) working from home 2 days a week with 2 trips to China/Taiwan each year, he offered me a fantastic wage to go with it!!!! So I start tomorrow apparently, looks like the new Jayco Journey is closer than I thought, who wants to stay retired anyway???
I sure do.:boink:. bBut if that’s what you want to do, go for it Dave, and i look forward to seeing the Journey.

157 train home start of a 4 day weekend oh yea !!!!!!!
My weekend is 2 days, of which both are at work. If I add Mon to the other end I will have a total of 3 days of work, much like last week and next week. Not sure why they call it a long weekend; seems much the same as every other weekend.

Maybe Ill take a week off on the July school holidays and bugger off somewhere

We just booked both School holiday weeks in July down Bellarine. Waited for the winter special $45 a night if you book over 2 nights.
With 4 kids fixed price works a lot better :) I work some days and not others.

Thinking we maybe head Cairns Sep holidays and take a few extra weeks.. Looked at the Coconut Park you add 4 kids and it goes double :(
Might have to hide 2-3 in the van as we pull in.

Youve been there too many times to start smuggling kids in

Something like this leaves tubs/canopy for dead, more room, more versatile, easier access by far and no strained back or crawling to get to something...

1800mm x 1800mm x 1300mm whatever, only things I lift out are genny and barbie, water and fuel jerries stay in place and easily filled by hose and decanted with pump, tool box access is just open door and open the tool box, fishing rods live in tubes underneath, yaks, paddles and full rods live on top unlike my mates I don't have to climb up on the tail gate (making sure jewells are tucked away so not to scare old ladies ) and dislocate things trying to dig something out...Bonus, battery is standard wet deep cycle lives in rack underneath, saving 100's of $$$$$ by not needing gel/agm........gear stored in HD crates so when not camping easily removed and replaced with picnic/beach crate, no need for a fancy fridge slider which cost nearly as much as a fridge, can actually buy a better fridge or need heavy expensive draws....your space is usable at all times whether camping or doing the surburban thing, mine has carried the new 50"TV home, not possible with a tub cluttered up with draws and slides, not the mention gear when moving house or those big tip runs, sell ute keep shed and bolt it onto new rig, saving heaps of mod stuffing around.................it's a win, win situation especially at the beach, pull out awning and lift a side door instant kitchen..................................shed now costs $2500.
Surveyed all the new trucks at the Airlie Beach get together some years ago and had a wide selection of models with canopies and tubs, was an easy decision to go a tray and shed once the Jeep was sold......here's some pics of the Versatile Ute...................dual cab with shed , the only way for harmony of camping and city doldrums @Bluey ...

.beachute02.jpg No kids climbing all over the gear, just lean in.
Awning out, chairs set up with stove, fridge and kettle handy......beachute03.jpg

beachute04.jpg .............Yaks and gear easily loaded and secured.
utebeach01.jpg ..................and a nice breeze to keep things cool on those hot QLD days by the beach.

No I have a steel tray but would prefer an allloy one, not one of the light weight jobs though... Mine is from Mates Rates Tools, a truly well constructed alloy box, although chink build, excellant welds, strong SS hinges and just a great build all round, mine has taken some good belts and is still in shape.
They can come with rack, windows, even lift points so you can remove it to use the tray as a dirt carrier....

To be fair, you drive a Colorado so your not in a position to make judgement calls on good decisions :boink:
