I spoke to the fitter who came to do my break-safe monitor who said ALKO sent out a newsletter to installers saying Tow-Pro was not compatible with ESC,
Since looking at REDARC site installer instruction it states that the current Tow-Pro is fully compatible with ESC

time to email Redarc and AL-KO me thinks.

True but all Tow Pro units are now fully ESC compliant.

do you have to re-calibrate everytime you hook the Van up?
or
is it set and forget..............?????????
Nope set and forget
Bit more pricey than others but looks like factory in the Jeep

If you need to swap from say a van to boat trailer, it's pretty easy to recalibrate, takes about 10 sec and about 200m of driving, otherwise it remembers the last setting every time.

sounding like a very viable option I am thinking

last time we were away, I was having all sorts of hassles with mine - kept having to adjust up & down hills near Donnybrook..

I have a feeling mine is NOT fitted just quite right, as it feels like the Van's brakes are on all the time

time for an upgrade - as soon as I have the coin...........

Drove 350km yesterday from Macedon Ranges to Tidal River - Wilson Prom.

After some minor adjustments once we got into some hills, all is well.

Very happy with the unit after this initial trip.

Inertia braking works very well and seems to pull up better than the Tekonsha P3 when you break heavily.

Now to sit back for 10 days and enjoy the Prom - with the gale force winds and rain... :fish2:

So after reading all about the Tow-Pro and the other inertia based controllers, it dawned on me that my Hayman Reese controller (an old non intertia version) is not compatible with my ESC.

It would have been nice for Jayco Sydney to actually provide some details on the correct controllers to be compatible with ESC since it was factory fitted, that way I would not have been driving around thinking ESC was providing me with some protection, when it most likely wouldn't have worked properly when I really needed it.

I have just purchased the latest version of the Tow-Pro today, and shan't be driving the van again before it fitted and calibrated.

Got mine 1/2 fitted last night, will hopefully finish tonight and will try the calibration procedure. Looks fairly simple.

I have the redarc (tow pro I think) with the red/green light on it and the dial knob which is red. How do I know which model it is. (Was installed nov/dec 2012). Both dial and light are on a rectangular piece of metal

Sounds like you have the EBRH model

The newer model is the EBRH-ACC

Both of these should be ESC compatible

So I just finished the installation of my Tow Pro EBRH-ACC, completed the calibration, and all I can say is "proportional brake controllers, where have you been all my life !" I can't believe how much better the van feels behind me now !

Nice an neat as well, no more banging the left knee.
