I've had a couple of PM's recently from members asking me what the "hybrid" means in my sig.
Rather than try and explain it over and over I thought I'd post a couple of pics.

Firstly, when we ordered the van back in March 2010, the 17' model was a brand new design and Jayco only had the one floorplan available, the 17.56-2.
As we had 3 kids and were about to embark on a 3+ month trip we decided we would rather have additional storage than a shower/toilet in the van.
We asked the dealer at the time of discussions if we could delete the shower/toilet module and use that space for a wardrobe. The dealer said they could.
So anyway, after the dealer confirmed they could and they could also deliver by our set date, we ordered. a couple of weeks later they sent me a revised floorplan with our requirements and we agreed and signed off on them. Order confirmed.

This is what it looks like.

We then had shelving added to the wardrobe just inside the door and this is now our pantry

I have further plans for the van next year so will update when done.

Cheers,
Matty

Update..
Thanks to Boots33's post about fitting LED's to all lights, i bit the bullet and ordered the same for mine.
Spent this morning fitting them, here are the results.
Interior with all 3 doubles on (no flash)

Exterior light with 2 x 36 panels.

Got a few of these (spares) with one to go into the handle light next to the door, hopefully next week when they arrive

Also got another couple of mods to do in the next couple of weeks, stay tuned.

G'Day Matty,

With the leds you have installed inside did you find them not as bright as the normal bulb type ? I got some 16SMD panels for the interior lights & didn't think so. Ended up leaving the standard onesin for now. According to the ebay ad yous are 10smd. I'm guessing 16smd should be brighter ???

Cheers,

Paul

Paul,
the LED's I purchased are the same as Boots' ones. Each panel has 36 SMD LED's, therefore I have 72 in each double and 36 at each bed end. They are a whiter light than the yellow-ish of the standard halogen globe, so sometimes than can look duller to the naked eye. To me, there is still plenty of light. I imagine 16LED's would be quite dull compared to standard globes though.

Cheers,
Matt

Woops not thinking !!:embarassed: I meant to say 36SMD (not 16) so I think we're talking about the same card.. 6x6 leds = 36SMD c/w adaptor to fit various globe sockets.
Your right about the light colour, probably just need to get used to them. For the current draw savings it's worth it....... & come to think of it. it was a smoother light but better spread.... Definatley not as harsh as the incandescent lamps. Just not what I expected first off....

How did you fix the card into the fitting ? I found the double sided tape let go in a few minutes with the heat !

Thanks & sorry for the mistake,

Update time...

Finally got around to installing my rearview camera (it's been sitting in the shed for 6 months now...... slack, I know)
Anyway, here are a few images of how I went about it.

Firstly, I used these guys to buy the camera and harness from, excellent service and very prompt delivery
http://www.brashimports.com.au/

As my current tow vehicle (Territory) has a factory colour screen, I have previously set that up to display both the camera and roof mounted DVD, so didn't need to add anything there.
I bought one of these, the CCD is better for constant image quality
Round202.jpg
It came with the harness that has power, earth, video and audio (if fitted) so no additional power was required at the camera.
Installation time..

I ran the lead through our double wardrobe to the floor
2c963783.jpg
and then cable tied it to the van harness and fed it through until I reached under the seat.
Then it was fed down through an existing hole in the floor.

Once under the van it was then fed using a length of yellow tongue through the chassis A frame and out through the existing grommet for the other wiring.

Then it was just a matter of tidying up the cables and connecting it to the existing plug fitted next to my 12pin plug at the rear of the car.

End result..

Camera powered up on van..
b8989b81.jpg

this is the third van I've done using the products from Brash Imports. I fitted out my mates Patrol with a mirror mount monitor, reversing camera and rear view camera using this gear.
Not the cheapest but his service and after sales service are just brilliant.
(I received the wrong camera on one order, phoned him up, and next day had the correct one with a pre-paid satchel to return the incorrect one in...very painless).

Cheers,
Matty

Hey Paul

You are right, the tape does let go and that has been discussed in other threads.

Best way to fix the LED's in is to put a small dob of silicone at each corner prior to using the lights. The tape will hold the fitting in place until the silicone cures.

Hope this helps.

Update again.
After seeing the great job zerosecta did on his rear bar and having no skills of my own, I bought one of his.
Finally finished fitting it this afternoon, just doing little bits and pieces at a time, when time permitted.
0D3E1D5C-5F87-42B1-B161-681E7EB39D96-7275-000011B30A4C518B.jpg
2DEC07D5-0ADE-45F4-AA21-8CBA76E93C53-7275-000011B31284000E.jpg

As you can see, it just clears the rear bed when folded down.

Overall, very happy. Rear bar is mounted by bolting it through the chassis. I didn't use the existing mounts, they look fine for the tubular bar, but this weighs a bit more and wanted the security of having it bolted to the chassis.

Cheers,
Matty

I only ever had the one gas bottle.
When planning the purchase and also our trip I was a bit concerned about the fuel usage of my Pajero, so we decided to delete the 2nd gas bottle and I had a jerry can holder fitted instead.
Thought we'd rather run out of gas than fuel....hehe.

As it turned out I didn't need the extra fuel carrying capacity, so I took the jerry can holder off in Kununurra and sold it to my mate travelling with us.

One 9kg bottle lasted us 5 weeks anyway, with 2 of those running the fridge 24/7 whilst we were in Cape York.
You can see it here, the day we picked it up.
