Hi all
After 2 nights at the PCYC campground in Broome, we put the van in storage there and then spent 3 nights at James Price Point (in a tent!!!) - Quondong was packed to the hilt due to WA school holidays!
What a spectacular part of WA (sounding like a broken record!!!)

What did we learn???
Don't drive on to a beach with VERY soft sand, and then stop to admire the view on the beach with VERY soft sand! Spent about an hour trying to dig ourselves out, and managed to get ourselves about a metre back - next step was to unload the car- instead we called for back up when we had bottomed out completely!View attachment 33879
Back in Broome now, did the Horizontal Falls full day tour on Monday which was amazing - flew to Talbot Bay, fed the Sharks, 'did' the falls (not massive due to tides)', flew to One Arm Point on the Dampier Peninsula, and then back to Broome in a 4 wheel drive bus - we were picked up at 5.30am and got back to Roebuck Bay CP at 6.00pm! Long day but well worth it!

We are actually really liking Roebuck Bay - doesn't get great reviews on Wikicamps but good value ($38 p/n) and we love the feel of the park. Tonight we were at PHP (pi*# head point) and the police turned up - there was a boat out past the mud flats that had picked up a psych hospital escapee - police used my camera to zoom in and monitor the situation!
On Monday, we leave the van here and head to Kooljamin at Cape Leveque for 4 nights (back in the tent), doing the Brian Lee tag-a-long tour on Tuesday.
After that, we need to start heading towards the east ... so do not want to go back to work!!!
Until next time
Cheers
Jac & Baz
Great photos! Would love to visit this side of the country one day. Keep the updates and photos coming mate. Funny how the police used your camera to zoom in and monitor the situation.

Oops ... Sorry @Triton ... having too much fun!!!
Here we go ...
image.jpg

A few more pics from Broome ... Gantheume Point and our view from the van at Roebuck Bay
image.jpg

We spent 4 nights at Kooljamin in Cape Leveque and did the Brian Lee tag along tour which was a great day - he explains the Aboriginal culture in the area and you go down to Hunter Creek for some fishing and a swim ... got bogged again but used the which to get us out this time!

image.jpg

Went to Cable Beach to take some sunset photos before we left beautiful Broome
image.jpg

From there, we followed the bitumen to Fitzroy Crossing, did the Geike Gorge tour and stayed at Fitzroy Lodge for a few nights and then did the trek into Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge from there (just a 'few' harmless freshies at Windjana Gorge!!!
image.jpg

Tunnel Creek
image.jpg

image.jpg

Headed further along the highway and stayed at the Bungles Caravan Park for a couple of nights - drove in and had a look at a few lookouts, Cathedral Gorge and Echidna Chasm ... Absolutely beautiful place - the van shot is from the CP
image.jpg

We then spent about a week in Kununurra catching up with friends who are wild life carers (hence 'the rabbit' visited most nights!)
image.jpg

From Kununurra, we did a flight over the Bungles, Cockburn Ranges (pronounced Coburn!!!) and Wyndham taking in the Argyle Diamond Mine and Pentecost River - fantastic day!

Baz and I also decided to do a day trip up to Wyndham (an hour by road) via the Pentecost River to take some photos crossing it ... saw a track in the map book called the Kurunji Stock Route ... and though 'why not' - 5 hours later we arrived at Wyndham after numerous rough river crossings, mud flats, cows ... did think about 3 hours in we should have let someone know where we were!!! Any arrived back in Kununurra safely that night!
image.jpg

Also did day trips out to El Questro and Home Valley ... have seen heaps of Aboriginal paintings along the way
image.jpg

The look out called Kelly's Knob at Kununurra and Ivanhoe Crossing (closed to cars now)
The last pic is a view from our site at Kimberleyland CP overlooking the Sleeping Buddha
image.jpg

Took the boat out on the Ord River to look at the paintings at Elephant Rock and also visited Molly Spring which was beautiful
image.jpg

Left Kununurra and spent a couple of nights at Lake Argyle (doing the sunset tour) and having a swim the 'refreshing' infinity pool!
image.jpg

Visited the Durack Homestead at Lake Argyle and then headed off to Katherine stopping overnight at the Victoria River road house ... walked up to the gorge at Katherine
image.jpg

Went to the hot springs at Katherine - early in the morning is great because it's packed in the afternoon - we had the place to ourselves .... currently at Kakadu Resort ... pictures to follow next update (hopefully not as long between posts!!!
Until next time

image.jpg

Went out to Litchfield and swam in a few holes!
image.jpg

On to Ban Ban Springs via Adelaide River - we're lucky enough to know the guy who owns Ban Ban and spent 5 nights here
image.jpg

The nasty NT ... beautiful water holes infested with crocs and buffalo!!!
image.jpg

Cat fish caught in Blue Hole - no Barra this time :-( and butterfly gap
image.jpg

The Douglas hot springs, a bit of bull dust, the Ghan rail way line and the weird but wonderful Grove Hill Hotel!
image.jpg

A visitor at Mataranka and we went to the Outback Experience at Katherine which is well worth seeing ... Tom Curtain breaks in horses, trains cattle dogs and sings on the back of a horse!!!
image.jpg

Bit of a big night at Daly Waters pub ... Played bowls on the main road, played pool, drank way too much but had a great night!!! Spent last night at Banka Banka Station ...

Great pics and it looks like you guys are having a ball .
Enjoy the great weather and just to make you feel better the weather down here sucks so stay up there .
It's been cold and wet so much so that @Crusty181 has fitted a diesel heater !

The kids have been keeping us up to date with the c&@p weather down there @mfexpanda - no heater needed up here!!!
We are still having a ball - 4 months down and 2 to go!
Currently at Mt Isa and then heading to Adels Grove and Karumba before heading to Cairns - hopefully get a bit more use of the boat down the east coast (away from the crocs!!!)
Stay warm down there !!!
