Hi coastrunner.
I have the same genny. If I can use it for A/C would be great.
I am interested which A/C yours ran. roof top or Air command / dometic wall unit & how long did you put it to the test?
Many thanks

Hi all,
We are looking at an 18.57, and want to put an ibis on the roof. Have heard a 2kva Honda won't run it. Any experience from others would be helpful.
Thanks

I have a feeling I have seen posts on the site saying 3kva is the go, but perhaps do a search on the forum for 3kva and see what you come up with.
Welcome to the forum also.

Im having the ibis air con installed on the work n play and hope my yamaha 2400 geny runs it ok. It runs my heron 2.2 air con easy and at a low idle. Not sure about the no name brands but a 3kva yamaha weighs over 60kg with fuel. But it would be great to run the van.

I too run a kipor 2.6 and it's never missed a beat in 5 1/2 years. No problem starting the aircon on the van too.

3 other friends and family have a Kipor 2.6 as well and there all happy with there's too.

One of my mates uses his every day for work and so far so good after about 3 years of working every day.

I must amit I think there a bit noiser than the honda but not by much and remember that the kipor is a 2.6 kva not like the honda which is a 2 kva

We bought a cheapie like this back in May 2012 off ebay, paid $500 for it.
Runs Air Con, Micro, Elec Fry Pan, Sandwich Maker, Kettle, Decoder etc. Done 20 hours which is not much and the only dodgey thing was flat battery for lack of use.
It's not really silent.
If I was doing some serious travel then I think I would go a Yamaha or Honda.
Otherwise the ebay great buy is for us.

I tried to run our Heron 2.2 from my dads Honda 2kVa. didn't handle the load and kept tripping on overload. Had my suspicions it wouldn't work due to size.

Has anyone successfully run the Heron 2.2 with the Yammy 2.4kVa?

Yes. I run the 2.4 Yamaha genny on mine and runs well. Slight pull down on air con start up but runs nice after that. Not flat out on high rpm either. Pretty quiet. Ran all day

We went over to Lake Elphinstone over the weekend for a day trip. One of the guys I work with was running his Heron 2.2 with his Honda EU20i, I cant for the life of me work out why mine won't. I have tried to run the lead directly to the A/C this morning which will bypass all the other 240V circuits in the Expanda. Still won't run. I want to buy a generator but am very hesitant due to the dramas I am having. Don't really want to fork out $$$ to find out it won't run.

I am also hoping there isn't something wrong with the A/C...

Hi JVP.

To answer your question. My Honda 1kv generator runs my herron 2.2 wall mounted air con on cool only.

I only tried it at home, and let it run for about 15 minutes.

I was just curiou to see what it would and wouldn't run.

I was surprised to see it run my wifes hair dryer on warm at medium speed, and the air con on cool.

By the sound of it you may be wanting to get your a/c checked. Is it under warranty still? I can run ours on cooling with no issues as well. Won't run the heater but that is to be expected as draw would be 2400w as it is a heating element and not a reverse cycle air con.
