Sad isn't it, I had a chat with a guy on our recent travels with a 9 month old jayco, same thing, falling apart and elec troubles kept him occupied as he called it.

The vans front accessory is getting tinkered with, I couldn't help myself.
Fitted a Provent Catch Can.

Fitted a OBDII blue tooth thingmibob which has comms to the tablet and the Torque Pro App so I can check out how things are on the go. Bit of entertainment whilst I had to learn a few new things.

Next week I'll be off to Beaudesert for the morning to get a 3" system fitted, such a shame to rip out the original stainless steel system, but for the towing tune I'll be getting it is best.

I should be resting ( thanks to Carpel Tunnel release, # 2 to follow soon, and 2 bulged discs in the lower back), but can't, it is mind numbingly boring to sit and watch movies.
So I fixed the fridge, it took a while but I found the local flexible hose guy has some plastic push on elbows I needed to allow the evaporator plate drain to work. The elbow sits in the spot where the hose was kinking. I have read many negative comments about these fridges and how they freeze up on the evap plate, I wonder if it is due to something as simple as this. I find it is easier to check for silly faults like this then it is to whinge about something on the interwebs.

Also, here are some pics of the extra sealing rubbers I added, 1st the front and rear hatch along the hinge.

Now the leading edge of the roof hatch. You'll see a small gap in place still, I'll sort this out soon.

Now for a lil' something I have started to work on....... :becky:

It is a screen shot from google maps, I use the maps to plan trips we want to do. Google only allows me to add a small amount of info into a map, so I have a few on the go, this is called going home.....

Ahhh!, yes, that is hopefully a part of a perth - south coast - perth round trip.
For the journey home, Bremmer Bay is an extra 500 k's on top.

@DaveR do you have a dust prob ???
Been on miles of dirt roads never really had an issue with ours what about one of those vent thing on the roof to give positive pressure inside van ????
With your car i changed my prados standard system for a 2 3/4 from same company worst thing ive eva done to my car used so.much more fule lost power didnt do very well at all after spending heaps of cash ripped it off went to wreckers got a second hand system put standard system back on best thing ive done for my car got good fule back got all my power back but lost my very good condition system
Car makers know what there doing do you really need to change or is it all hipe
I will never change one again
Its so much cash for not much gain ?????? I know you dont have a prado your motor is bigger and may do ok but still expensive
I want my money back from that company as for me it was a huge fail

You would have had a lack of back pressure with the 4cyl., although I suspect a few other concerns to give worries you mention, a bigger dump pipe on its own can't cause all that you mention.
I'll be OK, the tug is getting new air intake, then fuel system service and tune to suit, no chips will be needed.
One thing some time later may be a grunter, but not just yet.
I'm an old school diesel mechanic, I have a small idea what I am in for.
Thanks anyway.

With the dust, today I have been making some plans for a air pressure system, filtered. Hope to have it for end of November.

Its funny you say back pressure issues then why do companys push for 3 inch
On the advice of the company your going too went 2 3/4 still no good so is this a marketing thing for them knowing for smallar motors there not good to change so disappointed at the loss of money for no gain only more wotk to fix there problem they told me would be the bees knees such a waist of time effort money 07 prado 150 thousand ks injectors done motor cleaned no dramas with it untill i changed

My last vehicle, a 105 landcruiser, with the 1hz engine and after market turbo had a 2 1/2" exhaust. It performed better then it would have with a 3". Had more low end torque.

Yep.
It comes in the rear pod, both wheel arches, even though a friendly member did show me where to seal up the arches and I kind of forgot, along the left side wall at the front left.
I have a few tubes of the good stuff, the not available in a green shed stuff, to sort it out under neath fully, the hole way around.

A quick trip out to Beaudesert and 90 mins later I drove away with this.

37888046052_2788fb5d23_b.jpg
They were about $400 - $700 cheaper for the same thing and materials compared to other quotes I got, can you believe 1 custom place wanted the car over night so it is cool for the morning when they work on it????
New radiator today, improved heat exchange aussie made one, the original had never been out. The last owner took good care of it, not bad for 290,000 k's. I'm changing it as the top tank is starting to to get hair line cracks, plus full flush new hoses and thermostat.

Sadly a lot of guys fall for the glossy adds and fit the big exhausts with no gain and and a light wallet.
For it to work the hole system must be matched, intake, fuel, boost pressure and dump pipe all need to be evened out, not just 1 item, it can work against what is being achieved.
In your case drover the exhaust guys did a great thing for you. More $$ for trips away.
As for me, the tugs 3" exhaust is getting married to the new air intake, new intercooler and pipework with a slight increase in boost pressure.
That should be enough for me, I'll gain about 100nm of torque with just that, the tug dose have an old safari chip fitted, and the diesel guys think it will work well with the exhaust, intake and boost pressure. The last owner had it fitted on poor advise and had to de-tune it due to excess fuel consumption and no gain. It is a situation where it wasn't a matched system. When the injectors etc are finished, we'll look into re-tuning the chip. I want a "Towing Package" and am not interested in crank snapping power, those days finished in the 90's for me.

I fitted a length of sail track on the offside for some near vertical shade to slide on, just to keep the heat of that side of the van. Its set to peg to the ground a meter out at the bottom.

I have tied a length of 8mm bungy cord so I can have 5 pegs for it, can be seen in the pic just.
I have a screw through the sail track to work as a travel stop at the rear to secure it against at the rear first.

I have added the 3rd battery I meant to do a wile ago, can't rush these things.
Positive is connected to the far left and negative to the black coloured battery on the right side of pic. cables are hiding below seat mount.

5 tubes so far that is what has gone in underneath, 5 tubes of good quality black sica type sealant has applied to all the joins I found with some exposure, here is the front, a strip of extrusion across the front with SFA holding it in and nil sealant behind.

I've not bothered to look at the bearings and brakes till now, as when I bought it a receipt was shown to me from an apparently reputable caravan service agent for full wheel bearing servicing.....
Reputable.... Yer right.... Dreaming!
I decided to have a look as I have done over 10,000 k's with the van so far and will do about 11,000 more this summer and I'm glad I did.
There is next to no grease in the cavity between the bearings and the seals aren't fitted correctly.
Arggg!!!

I didn't get many pics but this one will give an idea, the seal is fitted so it is not true to the edge, not flush if you like.

Outside shower was next, the body of the shower unit has 2 slots cut into it for the shower hose to pass up into the van and loop back down into the housing. These holes allowed a lot of dust and some rain water into the rear tunnel boot. I got an elbow fitting and a sheet of sticky back plastic (AKA F#$% up board) and with some good quality white sica I stuck a piece of the sheet in to cover the holes. The shower hose coils in without kinking still.
Why not do this from factory I don't know?????

Playing with the Tug as well.
I pulled out the plastic rubbish for the air intake between the snorkel and airbox which leaks and fitted 90mm storm water piping.

Cut the spinner out to improve air flow.

It is tiny compared to the new bigger one.
This is a very tight fit, but it fits.

I also added a 4 litre tank for the compressor up under a side wing section of the bull bar and a nitto fitting in the front. The 4 litre volume helps filling the big tyres a bit faster, turn the comp on before needing it to fill the tank.
