Great to know Matty, Thanks Wish I had some sort of scale to way the effect on the tow ball cause thats the real question I guess.

How did you go will installation btw, no drama I hope.

I'm going to try and do the towball weights before and after for comparison.
Just needs a couple more coats of paint and then I'll bolt it on. Drilling the holes was fun....................not!!!!

I've mounted mine the same way that zerosecta did.
New bar sits on top of original bar mounts and is bolted through the chassis at 3 points on either side.

I just don't trust those factory mounts for anything more than what came out of the factory, especially with the extra forces involved..

I had to slightly notch one of the floor crossmembers to allow it to fit.
When I picked it up I had a look at Gavin's (zerosecta) 16' and his didn't require this mod.

Hand drill was used after plenty of measuring.
Still didn't get them to line up perfectly, so had to enlarge a couple to get the bolts through.
Threadlocker was applied to all threads too..

You can see the factory mounts are used to support the new bar.

Should you use high tensile steel bolts?

I didn't on mine.
Only for the simple fact that I won't be placing any tensile load onto the joint, ie. the rear bar to the chassis.
The bolts are there only to hold it in place.

Now if I was to be legally allowed to fit a 50mm box tube on the rear bar, fit a tow hitch and then hook up my boat/jetski/trailer to the van and tow all that together, then I would definately use high tensile bolts for that connection......

(If only I could....hehe...)

Hi Zerosecta!
great work with the rear bars!
i have a question relating to the previous ones? with the extra 300mm from the van to the rear of bar,
what does the standard jayco bar protrude out the back, e.g how much does your one go past where the standard one would have been?
and how much would the delux one cost?
cheers
