Well, after much discussion, my wife and I have decided to sell our van. Reasons - we have come to the conclusion that we really want a full van with minimal set-up. Our van has been fantastic and we just spent a wonderful time away in Victoria with family. However, realistically, we will not be able to use it again until middle of next year (lot's of family and work commitments).

NEW PRICE AS OF JANUARY 2014 $35,000.00 THIS VAN IS AGAIN FOR SALE as of January 2014

- 2011 16.49-3OB (plated 11/2011)
- simplicity suspension with 16 inch wheels and extended drawbar
- Holiday annex bed end flys
- water filter
- Truma E2400 gas ducted heating
- external picnic table and 2 gas bayonets
- 150 litre fridge
- LED internal lights - includes extra one over cafe dinette - 2 extra 12 volt outlets under table
- 2 x 90 watt solar panels + 2 x 100amp batteries
- SMEV full oven and cook top
- Wyngard TV antenna
- inner spring mattresses that we have found very comfortable, unlike the current ones apparently
- NOTE - no air conditioner (we prefer free camping - hence gas heater for the cold nights), no microwave (given away to young friends - pantry drawer installed where microwave was)
- roll out awning
- privacy screens

That's a very nicely set up van Bill. It's a shame to have to part with it after all the work you have put in to it but someone will get a great van. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks CR - actually change of mind again! We will probably keep the van and buy a new tow vehicle - something to last me until my dotage......!

That is a much better idea Bill. I purchased new in 2007 with the same idea in mind and so far it has worked. I still feel that this vehicle will last me out as I can't see any way of replacing it now I am retired. :whoo::whoo:

Thanks CR - not retired yet but semi - 62 next month - we used to just roll vehicles over in the business every 5 years - did not do that last time - just paid out the lease on the LR - but it is now 8 years old, needs a few things done in the next couple of months which would add up to 3 or 4 thousand dollars - hence decision to look at new vehicle - the Jeep I drove today was amazing - my wife has to drive it tomorrow and make sure she is comfortable in it (she is looking forward to a heated seat and her own zone air con! She feels the cold a lot - I don't!)

Good stuff Bill how long is the wait for that?
It comes off the boat next Thursday and we pick it up two weeks later............I chose the Laredo (lowest spec version - still has lots of bells and whistles) - did not need to spend an extra $11,000 for the Limited (that has 20 inch wheels - impractical when out in the bush - sat nav - leather - all seats heated rather than just front seats - better sound system and a bit of other stuff).
Looking forward to it and my wife is very keen as well - she found it easier to drive and more comfortable than the LR.

Good move Bill. I have found that caravanning can take a bit of time to set/pack up. I think you just have to give people jobs where you can and keep things simple. I think an Expanda takes only a bit longer to set up than say a Starcraft, probably the beds being the worst. Anyway, you had done too much work on it to sell it. Enjoy the car.

Hi Bill,

Congrats on the new tug!! Great choice. I've had mine for over a year now and I think its one of the best purchases I've made.

If your interested here is a website that publishes the Jeep technical service bulletins etc:

http://wk2jeeps.com/wk2_tsb.htm

Also, I'm on the Jeep forums at:

http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/vbindex.php

and

http://www.jeepgarage.org/forums.php

Hope this information helps.

Enjoy!!

Cheers
Thanks Silverfox for the links - glad you are happy with your Jeep - looking forward to getting ours - we do the trip to Griffith several times a year to visit our son and his wife and baby daughter - it will be interesting to see how it compares to the LR.
