Awesome NK. And the million dollar question, do they stay attached for pack up or do they they to be removed?

Cheers

G'day zero,
The bloke from holiday annexes said you need to remove for pack up but it does look easy and fairly quick to do!

They look great just a couple questions. Do the added on rails still let the door seal well when shut and do the rivets go all the way through or just in the door a bit. They look very well made.

Hi Geoff,
The supplier said it doesn't effect the closing / sealing of the door and I don't think the rivets go right through but NK will be able to confirm. NK has invited me to check them out....it will be good to meet a member from behind the screen! :)

Cheers.

No problems with sealing that I can tell at this stage. Rivets go into a solid part of the roof, so there are no sharp edges on the inside.

You can erect them by yourself in 5mins per end, probably less. Taking them off will take no time, but the have to come off because the sail track is on the outside over the roof hatch.

They look good. Do you think we could phone order and then just take the van over on completion for them to put the press studs on? I wonder if they'd be able to do them on sail tracking??

I don't see why not. I think they even looked at doing everything in one day, so that may even be an option. give them a call and see what they can do. They are very easy to deal with

Not having our expanda yet, can you tell me if water can gather where the canvas goes inside the opening (see photo). expanda - Copy.jpg

Also do they have any ropes etc to tension or just the weight of the fabric is enough. Sorry if they are dumb questions but they look really good and I might find out if I can diy as Im in Victoria.

Cheers Geoff

Hi Geoff, I asked about diy and they said it's easy and they do post allot. Not sure what the postage is but they charge $50/end to fit. For me to pick up and fit myself is $520, I only have one end.

Cheers.

Geoff, not sure about the water pooling but I doubt it. The weight of the canvas is sufficient to hold them in place. The canvas is light weight as when they were designing them they found the heavy canvass caused the roof to drop as the strutts could not hold the weight.

It depends on where the end of the canvas fits. If you look at the Hard lid and where it is hinged onto the van ( the foam that provides the seal) this is where the water runs off the lid when it rains. If the canvas goes around the lid then no rain will fall between the canvas and the outer canvas. However if the two canvasas are seprated then water will drip down causing some water to hit the inside canvas. This ufortunately can not be stopped as the water on the hardlid drips somewhere. it does however run off the canvas and onto the floor so should not cause problems unless the drip is onto the roof of the inside canvas, if this is the case then you need to redirect the drip somehow otherwise you get a pool of water on the roof. I hope this is not as complicated as it sounds

On our recent trip where we had about 30mm over two nights in Lightning Ridge, I hung a cheap $8 blue tarp between the canvas and privacy screen with a couple of cable ties around where the privacy screen attached to the press studs. It then also then doubled as a car mat for the kids so we didn't get red dirt/clay everywhere in the car when they got in and out.

For those who are living around the Newcastle Area, Jayco Newcastle is now offering the Holliday Annex bed flies as an option.

Presently I have two canvas suppliers lined up for quotes to make them in Perth. We are toiling with having the cover slighly flared at the bottom with eyelets so if it is truly bucketing down we can use stays to pull away from the bed ends.....similar to the flies. Will keep the forum posted for WA members.

A question for Randi, or anyone else who has the bed end covers held on by press studs.

Do the press studs hold ok?

I saw in one of your pics that you had cords attached and had pegged it into the ground?

I was just wondering if the force of the cords pegged in pulls the cover off the press studs?

Our canvas covers are just held on with the press studs. Only problem is one stud is about 10mm out of position and makes it a bit tight to fit, but it holds very well.
