@S&k,

I have seen boxes up to 2.1m wide, but that is about as wide as the van, so a 1.9m wide box with an angled corner is popular.

As for height, most people stop at 500mm and anything from 400mm to 600mm deep.

The larger boxes are usually custom made. But here are a few sites that do offer 1.7m to 1.9m x 500mm H x 600mm D.

It all depends on what you want to store and how you want it to look, along with the weight considerations and how you are going to access your spare tyre, or if you are going to relocate it.

@crustt posted these toolbox manufacturers, so they might help…

Here you go, how much time have you got?

Hi @S&k - Custom made is going to get you the largest available pending your own design, what you want it to do and how much cash you're prepared to part with... There are plenty of options to be found on the ED site...

Here is a recent discussion http://www.expandasdownunder.com/threads/tool-box-for-front-of-expand.4217/page-2#post-62430

Here is a my box: http://www.expandasdownunder.com/threads/ligedys-17-56-2-ob.2770/#post-44280 read into it the pros and cons.

I agree with @ROnEM largest would be up around the 1900x500x500. you will also need to have a good think about the work required and where you're going to put/access your gas bottles and spare wheel, jocky wheel, etc. any more than 510mm high and it can interfere with the bed end lid.

Big is good but it can add a very significant amount of weight to your tow ball down load - think about shifting your spare to the rear and how you're going to evenly distribute your cargo...

Thanks for that. Ligedy I emailed Tongs regarding your box, they where are unsure about the size of it. Do you know what the original measurements are?

I picked mine up from super cheap and painted it black. I simply relocated the spare to the rear bar using a drop down tyre carrier and welded 50mm angle across the A-frame to support the box and gas bottles. I can't tell you the dimensions of the tool box off the top of my head but what I can say is it takes a weber baby q and honda eu10 side by side with plenty of room to spare for hoses, annex, ect.

Hi GULewis. Any chance of grabbing the size of the tool box you put on the front when you can? Also just wondering if you might have a photo of how you mounted the gas bottles on the A frame? Also one last thing is your A frame extended. Very interested in putting this box on the front of my van. Thanks

There must be a few mm between the top of the regulator and the bed base when down. Good to see the reg up as high as it can go.

Hi Grogen_dude, I used 50mm by 5mm angle and made up a frame that comes out, from memory, about 300mm and I welded the original gas bottle holders to the frame. Plus there's a length of 50mm flat bar under each gas bottle, just for a bit more strength and support. There was enough length in the gas pipes to straighten them out and clear the box. I have the extended A-frame too. 1090mm wide springs to mind in regards to the tool box but I'll check in a couple of weeks when I'm home next.

Hi Gulewis,
I like your rock deflector mate, did you buy it local or build yourself?
Cheers mate.

Hey Darren, I bought my stone guard through Abba Caravans in Rockingham, Perth. The guard is made by JB Caravans and cost was $500 roughly. Might seem a bit steep, but I couldn't make something as neat as this one and it bolted straight to the A-frame.
