Hi All,

We have a 17.56.1 on order but have time to change the spec etc.

We rented a 17.56.1 for the weekend and thought it was great but we did use a portable loo inside the van for the kids at night (ages 2, 4, 7) which we very convenient and are now debating whether to go for the 17.56.2.

There is obviously a trade off with the kitchen space.

Would be interested in any member views who may have expeirneced both versions and the practically of each model.

Cheers

I am biased for the 17.56.2. The other option is to get a 17.56.1 and add an outdoor shower and hot water and your own porta potti.

We looked at the outdoor shower option but the HWS and extra tank make this a $1500 outdoor shower !!!!

Agree. Go the 17.56-2. Yes you do give up a bit of room but the whole experience is a bit of a compromise. For me, I would rather cook outside and shower inside. The loo at 2am on a rainy night is a bonus!

Someone needs to come out for the 'number 1' so here it is, 3 kids or more, love the additional storage wardrobe (kids) and we really use the kitchen (family of vegetarians). Two young daughters so we got the additional cubby room on the annex, ideal for a portable toilet and bikes. Works well for us. Having said this, if big 4's not your thing and want to get away from that kind of jumping pillowy thing and hit the parks then you have to think about the '2'.

It's the 2 for us. Roof top air and the 150 Ltrs fridge. It will be good for resale.
Those late night loo runs, it comes in handy. 2 kids it's always good to have convenience. I have the job to empty the toilet cassette, but my wife has other jobs to do.
As for cooking inside......we to eggs, veges and other non greasy foods. We cover the eggs with a lid when scrambling or sunny side ups. Good ventilation helps.
Weber Q does the rest. Slow Cooker and sandwich press are extras too.

Individual choice - we are happy with our 17.56-2.

Cabinet aircon and 150 ltr fridge with dual gas bayonets - wouldn't change a thing.

As for storage, what we lose in space we wouldn't be able to use for what we want anyway (I.e. the bits we want to store are too big for the storage we lost).

The more storage you have the more crap you carry = weight!

We got the 17.56.1, external shower so we've got the HWS. Have three boys (7, 9, 12). Porta potty in outside shower tent.....but we couldn't go past the extra bench & cupboard space. Either way, the panda 17.56's are awesome. We love ours!! Oh yeah, we have roof aircon, 150 fridge & ext gas bayonet. Izzy123
