I love the 8player app, works on heaps of formats, works well with my NAS and mobile WIFI without having to convert.

So I got my wifi adaptor. Works a treat, downloaded the app, plugged my non wifi hd into it and was able to play content on 4 devices simultaneously. Works on both 240v and 12v.
For around $20 I reckon it's a bargain and will be great for kids in the car and van.

thats a great idea.. what app does it play AVI? We have a wifi hard drive although this would be nice
Everything on my hd is MP4, not sure if it will play avi. Will need to check that out.
I will convert something to avi format and will let you know.be nice not to convert
Are you able to check if it also plays MKV as well? We have a few different formats within our movie collection. Was thinking it would be good to have 2 wifi hard drives in the van.
