My mate has a 2006 model jayco swan and wants to replace his 14 x 6 rims sunraysia with alloys. What pattern would they be and can he go up to 15 x 6 or 7

He would be best to measure them as individual vans can have slight changes, depends on whether a 6 or 5 stud hub and what the off set is, I would stay with the steel wheels but it should be possible on a Swan to up them to 15.

Hi,
I had also thought about putting 15" wheels on to get extra clearance, but, if I remember correctly,
it also involved having to increase the size of the brakes (backing plate, electric brakes and shoes, brake drums).

This is an option on the current camper trailers, so someone at Jayco should be able to detail
what is involved in adding the option to go from 14" to 15" wheels

cheers
Mike

Can't see why you would have to replace brake drums and all that, maybe hubs/drum to change a stud pattern but not the whole shebang, usually only 2 sizes of drums 10" and 12"....

Hi Drover,
do you think it is possible to have 15" wheels on 10" drums?

I seem to remember some posts on this forum or elsewhere regarding
wheel upgrades and associated drum upgrades. Perhaps it was from 15" to 16".

I lost interest in upgrading the van wheels, since my clearance problem is more likely to come from the rear of my Falcon
which will hit bottom way before the Penguin axle.

cheers
Mike

I remember that, couldn't see why as I have seen big vans with just 10" and small ones with 12", in fact my 14.44 had 12" off roads on while Big Mal 22ft has 10's, okay one has 2 and the other has 4 but still, I seem to recall 10's have bigger shoes than 12's as well so it's probably academic anyway but on a Swan wouldn't matter and should have heaps of room to go up a size, the easiest way to check things is measure from chassis to outer edge of hub then go to tyre place and check a new wheel , place a straight edge across the tyre and measure from the straight edge to the inside face of the rim, if the van measurement is 25mm or more then the wheel will be okay on the hub then you need to measure from centre of hub to the edges of the guard with the old wheel fitted and using the diameter of the new size wheel see if it fits within those measurements allowing a good 50mm of clearance.........or just refer to this link for sizes etc....http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible_pg4.html
