Looking at the tanks on our Discovery I noticed that the water tank breathers are open allowing anything to get into the tanks.
What have you guys done to stop this? Just fit breathers to each tank? or reroute the breathers somewhere else. I know on some camper trailers trying to fill the tanks is a pain in the butt due to air locks so want to avoid this.
Cheers Guys

When you say open do you mean that bugs etc could get in? Ours has a little grill over the opening of the breathers to stop this.
Are your breathers ran back to the filing point or just to the tops of the tanks?

Could you post a pic when you get a chance?

Yep, mine are simply a piece of hose coming off the breather on the tank and hanging down the side of the tank to open air. They are not std tanks, the van had two new tanks fitted just before we purchased it.
Will grab some pictures tomorrow

Leave the short vent lines just how they are - long vent lines can have low points and will result in slow filling.

If you are concerned about bug entry - visit Supercheap or Repco and grab a couple of cheap inline Ryco fuel filters - just slip them onto your existing vents.

We installed shut off valves to both the breathers and the tank fill lines. You do have to remember to open the breathers when you are using the tank water and open all of them when filling but it has stopped us losing a lot of water when traveling on corrugated roads and stopped bugs and stuff getting in.
