So after 17 fantastic and reliable years of service from the 100 series cruiser, I finally bit the bullet and got a new 200 series VX.

First trip with the van this long weekend.

Already looking forward to being able to travel up hills at a decent speed :)

I’ve done the GVM upgrade (3650kg), air bags, fitted the Redarc towpro elite, bull bar, roof rack

and new LED lights.

Waiting on the new recaro seats and have a list of other mods to come.

Lovely, and a VX as well !! You've been very good to yourself.

Your ditching the perfectly good factory seats in favour of Recaros?? ... You'll surely appreciate my envy as I sit here reading that, with a 70 series sales order on the desk right next to me

Elephant ears on the mod list ???

I’m not quite sure what to do with the stock seats. Given they are pretty big to store I’m probably sell them.

Someone with a GXL would probably like some leather seats.

I won’t be adding elephant ears, I can’t stand them. More than happy with my Milenco Aero’s

Your not wrong @Bluey, I did a couple of hundred k’s with a mix of freeway and minor roads getting to the hunter valley.

Wow, can’t believe how easy the 200 does it compared to the 100, and averaged 18.7l/100 compared to the old 23l/100

Let’s see if I get 17 years out of this one

I can’t believe why 200 series owner have to do mods to what is described at the “perfect towing vehicle “ and are still happy guzzling fuel, maybe I missed something?

I was considering a Sahara, but we really only wanted the heated seats (well SWMBO had them on the must have list).

I had recaro seats on an Escort I had many moons ago, so thought I’d lash out and get them for the comfort and saved $10k over the Sahara

I never described it as the perfect towing vehicle. Just like vans, I like to customise the car to suit what I want.

I won’t have a pretend Ute because they are too light, would not own a Jeep or Nissan, the tank Utes are too big so the cruiser suits

My recently deposed Navara ute (my 2nd) was the the most stable and confident tow vehicle Ive owned to date empty or loaded. It only a 100kg tare difference to a well regarded R51 Pathfinder and is identical from the rear doors forward. If an empty ute is unstable towing, its busted and Id be taking it back to get it fixed. If my new Troopy feels as stable Ill be pretty happy.
