Hi Jason i have never had a problem with the hitch height.Previous to our new van we had a 16.49.1 tourer without an underslung axle. We had real problem with clearance on that van especially backing into our driveway, the spare would scrape badly on the road due to the changing angles. That'swhy i went with the underslung axle on this van it works a treat no more scapes
