Hey there people.

Almost newbies to the caravanning scene with our 2018 23' Basestation Outback due for delivery in September. We've jumped right in to the deep end with no caravanning experience whatsoever after upgrading from our time consuming yet thoroughly enjoyable camp trailer. With 3 boys under 5 the Basestation was the van for us after seeing not one but two down at Wilson's Promontory a couple of years back.

For our tow rig we've upsized from the Ford Territory AWD to a JGC Limited due to it's towing capacity and we really enjoy it so far. I've heard both positives and negatives about the Jeep so for now we're keeping an open mind and are optimistic.

I also have a 23' Basestation, also have 3 boys, also tow it with a JGC and the Basestation is also my first Caravan.
So I like you all ready and your taste in quality items.
You will enjoy towing the Basestation with the Jeep and looking forward to seeing some photos.

Welcome...& Well done, you will not regret it - Us too were new to caravanning a couple of years ago. We had never even done the tent scene let alone camper trailer. We purchased a new BS late 2016, and headed off around Aust 10 days later, including the Gibb River (totaled 20,800km)

We have 5 boys and one girl, the eldest now 13 and the youngest 5.

We also spent a couple of days at the Prom over the recent school hol's - great spot

Enjoy the van... we certainly do!!!

Yes indeed we have. Had 2 trips away, the first for 2 nights just to get our heads around it then a 4-night stay for a bit more enjoyment. See pics below.

Yep, its a cracker.

Annex we got from Australia Wide Annexes https://www.xtendoutdoors.com.au/annexes/ and it’s bloody brilliant. As you can see you can completely remove the walls when the weather is fine and put them back in when needed - all done with a simple zip.

And unlike most other annex we’ve seen this one actually looks good.

Just a quick heads up about the annex @Pace, I had to disconnect the gas from my fridge before they would install the annex as it vents on the annex side of the van. This involved having a qualified gas fitter provide a certificate. Same gas fitter also stated the risk associated with the fridge venting into the annex is almost non-existent. He simply removed a valve from under the van, handed me the valve and showed me where it came from so I can “do what I wanted” once the annex was installed

$2390 which included the annex walls, anti -flap kit (which I will use regardless of setting up the annex), delivery and installation at the location of my choice.
