I have the option of buying a 2nd hand Stone Stomper for $400 from friends! We don't do much off roading but still want a stone guard of some sort. Are they mainly for off road?

Mainly for gravel yes. There very good. Stonestomper is a member here. They are custom made to suit your rig and I think they are not that much more than $500-600 and I sure SS will look after a forum member, so I wouldn't be paying $400 for somebody else's tbh.

Hey @Nagga's ... Before you buy it make sure it will fit once you put the Ali box on the front.
Might be lucky but might also have to make some mods to get it to fit!

According to their web site, they are only $550 new + $50 postage, and thats custom made to your vehicle. I don't think I'd be paying $400 for a 2nd hand one myself.

Use ours most of the time also, you dont only get rocks etc on dirt, they are a great bit of kit and great customer service.

unless their van is exactly the same as yours in dimentions eg width and drawbar length, probably best not to purchase 2nd had as like said they are custom made. also have differ mounts to suit different towbar applications.

In saying that I was lucky to sell the one from my Swan camper to someone who had the same camper.

Dont pay $400 for used.
