What are you towing it with? ( I couldn't find if you'd said)

Don't forget if you have 350 as a ball weight that that reduces your vehicle payload by that amount.

How's the vehicle payload?

LOL Funny how everyone knows the truth of it....But In practice probably ignores half of the same advice at times..... Then there's the quarter of situations where you didn't expect it, and cause most of the damage........

How much should you reduce ball weight in off-road situations? What about corrugations? And on and on it goes.....

Only one solution....Don't be too silly..and get good insurance.....

Well Saturday arrived and we were able to pick up our new home away from home, it is a lot bigger now that it is sitting in our front yard... The car towed it great and we are really looking forward to getting away in it.

Quality wise, few concerns with it - namely the stupid door handles for the drawers, we are meant to have a 2017 model with the upgraded handles. They still look like plastic and are plastic inside - we now have 4 broken... Also the stupid placement of the antenna / 12v connection for the TV... I cannot put it inside however as the washing machine is in there. I will put some right angle fittings on.

A few images below.

We cannot wait for the 8th, just under 2 weeks in Yamba!

Cheers Dan
Wish mine was still nice and shiny underneath

Anyway....My 20.64.1OB should arrive in 2 weeks...What do you guys reckon I should do with my 17.56-2OB... Put it on sale while at the Gold Coast on holidays before fixing it up, or take it back to Mackay area fix it up and sell it in a month or so? It does need a bit of maintenance to make it look pretty again. Road worthy and Gas certificate while in the park this Wednesday. Priced to sell at $36000???

Hi there mate, hope the flash van is going well for you.

Hi Dave, it is thanks - it was meant to be taken off for the long weekend but sick kids and in turn making the parents even sicker has seen us change our plans! We may get away for a night if we feel up to it.

Cheers Dan

Unfortunately a house move just before our Expanda arrived and some unexpected OS work trips has limited our use but it's about to get used a whole lot more.

I have added a few USB dual points to the van and replaced the ones above the girls bunks to USB over the 12v socket.

I also bought a new 4 way switch with a all off button, this is for our bed end so we can turn the main lights, awning light (late night toilet runs) and the girls bed area and toilet lights. Very easy to program.

I have been working on our new home for the Camper as well - I really like the access to underneath at the rear. Hopefully the top will go on in a week or 2 and give it some additional protection.

Then the real mods (and trips) begin!

Cheers Dan

Hi All

It’s been a busy few months and it’s time to dust of the mighty Jayco for its first camp for a couple of months.

As a keen MTBr I wanted to put a good rack on and opted for a ISI Carrier due to a few mates reviews and the way the work with both of our cars...

I finally finished the mount and had it powder coated - looks the goods and the bikes fit perfectly!

We may have also bought a new car for the wife and to assist with towing duties. It’s not often I say she is right but we should have bought the 200 first go round, but I really wanted (and still love my Navara) a Ute...

Wow, it’s been a while since I updated this, our vans almost 4 years old!

Got sick of the Webber sitting on the floor and wanted it mounted / easy to access so my BIL is building a front box / extended BBQ slide / gas bottle storage for me, more on that once it’s ready (should be a week or 2). But I have racked my brain on the spare wheel... it has to move, not wanting to put it on the rear bar - I made up an under chassis wind down mount. If my measurements are correct - it will fit and still have 38cm from the ground to spare - tacked it up today to test fit - like a glove . Finish it tomorrow, off the the powder coaters Friday and fit it up next weekend.

Looks great @Rogerthatv2 . I also mounted it under the chassis but I purchased the undermount from Jayco. Much lighter that what you have (and I don't have the skills with a welder you seem to).

@LB_77 - I bought the spare tyre carrier from Jayco direct (including the winch) - https://www.expandasdownunder.com/threads/macca_75s-20-64-1-ob.9840/post-200483

Mounting the carrier to one side also left room for a grey water (as I have 3 x fresh water tanks) - https://www.expandasdownunder.com/threads/macca_75s-20-64-1-ob.9840/post-207451

Thanks LB
looks good @Rogerthatv2

I have been considering doing the same thing....can I ask where you sourced the winch unit from? Cheers
Thanks @LB_77 , I found it on Ebay (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-SPA...m4b83c4470a:g:y~AAAOSwBkBb92Ic&frcectupt=true) Quality looks pretty good and I wanted something like what the LC70's have on them - this is a copy of that. I have wondered if the cross brace C channel on the Jaycos are the same for each chassis...

@Macca_75 I wish I could take credit for the welding, my team did this for me and did a damn good job of it. I just drew up what I needed and the next day it was done. To be honest, I only saw yours after I posted this - otherwise I would have gone your route - had no idea they made that! That said, I am pretty chuffed with how this has turned out. I have a grey water tank already but only 2 water tanks. With 3 girls however - I need 27 of them for a one night trip away...

Its all finished now, I plan to mount it over the weekend. Looking forward to finally having my BBQ on a slide in the front box and freeing up some more room in the van.

I just used the spare wheel winch from an old Hi Lux, wreckers have heaps, used some "C" channel to mount it underneath........boxed in the ends and bolted to cross member nice and light.
