The Gong
Over Easter we camped at Oallen Ford on the Shoalhaven River, about 10kms from Nerriga.

This is a great spot for those in Sydney or Canberra. From The Gong there are two ways to get there, the new road from Nowra to Braidwood is the nicer drive, of via Marulan on the Hume (quicker).

It gets very busy over Easter, but on any other weekend is very quiet. There are no facilities so you have to be self sufficient.

Its a popular area for dirt bike riders and can get a bit noisey at times. Probably not the best if you have young kids that have day sleeps. Also very popular for gold fosickers and there is a bit of fun 4wding too. In an Expanda you are limited to the main camp areas, which are still nice, but those with campers can get further away from the crowds down some of the tighter side tracks. We managed a great spot away from the crowds thanks to our smaller van, a larger van may have struggled.

Kids love playing in the river, floating down the rapids in boats and playing on the 'beach'.

The famous Nerriga Pub is only 10min drive away if you enjoy a cold beer and a meal.

We have been going here for years and it was more crowded than ever, we even saw a few campers yelling at each other as space was hard to come by. Out of Easter its a great spot.

Tianjara Falls is also not far away, a nice morning tea stop:tea:

Thought there was a post about it when the bridge opened.......................last time I visited it was a tip, the grots had ripped the place up with bikes and rubbish everywhere, needed a good flood to clear it out.
Years ago when only dirt roads for miles around it was a great quiet place.

Things have changed here, NO CAMPING now! since the new bridge went in apparently due to mess people left.

Hey @Johnno48 have they erected signs or is someone enforcing this?

My parents dropped in there around November 2015 and it appeared you could still camp there. The entrance on the eastern side was blocked but you could apparently still get in from the west.
