looks good would make a nice weekend away for us

Thats a great idea, take plenty of pics for me, I have been following the resto of the Anson since it was partly a frame and in boxes, would visit about every 2 years to see how far they had got, wish I could make it down for the weekend when they fire up it's engines.....
The Wirraway was air worthy when they bought it but now is only licensed for taxying, the original owner sold it on the stipulation it would never fly again, too expensive to maintain in airworthy state for them anyway.......Its the best looking one I have seen.

The best one I ever saw was owned by a person I knew, he loaned it for the flying sequences for the film The thin Red line, it was flown by a friend of his. Not long after the friend was doing a sharp pull up at low level, stalled the aircraft which flicked upside down, crahed, wrote off the airplane and killed himself.
The Wirraway was notorious for that behaviour.
He should not have been flying that close to the edges of the air!

True, end of wing design killed quite a few, talked to a Wirraway driver at Temora and while he loves it he did say you have to watch it all the time....I would love a flight in one.

Are you looking for a "death wish" @Drover ??

If I look back over the last 60 odd years it would certainly seem like it............ Jumping into the flight deck nets on the Carrier, only to find they weren't there so took a swan dive into Sydney Harbour, sitting on the floor of a Huey, feet hanging out the door as it ducked and weaved thru the trees, hanging out the back of a Herc by a strap 150ft above the ground, brilliant stuff, to name a few, most death wish times though was when hurtling down the Highways at night.....................
The bucket list still has a Tiger Moth and a T28 Trojan flight but nothing stupid like jumping off a bridge on a bungy cord.

My earlier adventures as a Scout included caving, absieling and building and testing huge flying foxes, we made them ourselves using poles and rope.

Back to topic though and the Museum at Nhill is certainly worth a stop over............

looking back, Reg Ansett sponsored an air race from Brisbane to Adelaide in the early 1960's.
There was a stop over at Nhill. An air traffic controller critter decided that there was a conflict of landing airplanes, and being the days when a lot of airplanes did not have radios or maybe he couldn't contact the relevant ones he fired off a very pistol. the cosequences were a very large grass fire at the northern end of the Nhill airfield!!!
