Upset my son and DIL this morning by sending him a text saying I was off to Robina to pick up my new wheels. He was texting back wanting to know what car I was buying, what happened to the BT50 and demanding pictures. I said I would send him pictures when we got home. He was most upset when I sent him these.

I want to fit some better A/T tyres for our trip north but the existing ones are too good to just throw away so I figured an extra set of wheels with more aggressive tread for trips and swap them back to the H/T when we get home. I won these on an ebay auction this morning for $232.50 which I thought was pretty good as the guy had picked up his new BT50, driven around the corner and had new wheels and tyres fitted. I also found he was advertising them on Gumtree for $400 with exactly the same photos.

Now I just have to decide on the tyres to get fitted.

Nice "get" with those rims .... double check those nuts ;)

I did the same, replaced the factory alloys with steel King rims, with BFG KO's, leaving Dick Cepek on the alloys. 45k km dragging the 3 ton van around some pretty nasty terrain and and the KO's have been very good to me, and the KO2's are said to be a little better. Ive fitted Toyo's to the van after a couple of recommendations ... also worth some thought.

The BFG's are a great tyre but certainly up there in price. I went with a set of Maxxis AT700 10 ply version. Happy with the tyres. Strong, durable, great in the wet and not as expensive as the BFGs. Have 40k on them so far and only half worn. Happy days.

Have a look at the Hankook Dynapro ATMs, my mate has them on his Discovery 3 and done around 70K so far with a fair bit of towing their 16.49 Expanda and he drives this thing hard and is pretty fussy when it comes to tyres as he is in the business and usually is a BFG or Michelin man, he even suggested them to me for the Paj, that or BFG KO'2s. He still reckons they have about 30-40K left in them.

Thanks for that @JS4910, I have priced the Hankook Dynapro from Jax, $205 per tyre and a $100 cash back if you buy 4. They also provide a 5% discount to seniors but it may not apply with the $100 cash back. But that still works out at about half the cost of the BFG's so I have to seriously consider them. My son has them on his Hilux and is happy with them so your info just adds to my feeling about them.

Because I am the ultimate tight arse and although I would love to have KO 2's on the Paj, given his recommendation and the fact I have seen their off road performance in the flesh I would be most likely going down the Hankook path for the replacement of my factory Dunlops, and given I need 18's the options are limited and very expensive.

Forgot to mention @chartrock that I had the Hankook muddies on my Rodeo as the last set before we traded to the Pajero, for an aggressive muddie they were surprisingly well mannered and quiet on the blacktop, wear was pretty good for the type of tread too, so the brand gets a big thumbs up from me.

alot of guys in the 4wd club I'm in have the Hankook
(helps one of the guys is a dealer for them)

never heard any bad words about them yet - maybe 3 years most have been fitted

I personally would prefer the KO2's, but am running the Micky Thompson Baja on my Patrol, and Desert Duelers on the Cruiser

Had new tyres fitted to my new wheels then had these wheels fitted to the truck. My old wheels and tyres are now stacked in my shed waiting for us to get back from our cape trip. I went for the Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10 at $205 each for 225/65R17, $820 total less $100 cashback then 5% Seniors discount for an outlay of $684 for 4 AT tyres. So far only done about 20Km on tarmac but have found them much quieter than I anticipated. Taking the van away this weekend to Toowoomba so will have a better idea by next week.
