I have one of the new Webers Baby Q's with the split grills and been recently looking at upgrading to the bigger model up (Weber Q 2200) with the high lid and temp gauge. Was in one of the weber specialist dealers the other day and apart form having 10% off, which they never do on the high lid models (using this excuse with the minister of finance
) I noticed they have changed the lid.
The older ones with the cream coloured lid had a smooth, shiny enamel type of finish and the new ones are a dull, gritty / rough type of powder coat finish. If you run your hand over the lid it feel almost like sandpaper.
The sales guy mentioned they have only recently changed to the new 'powdercoaded' lid as now it's sourced from China rather than the USA. Don't know about this but the only issues I could see is cleaning would be a PITA as it's easier to clean a smooth surface rather than a gritty one.
Will probably bite the bullet anyway as I do like a deal

Didn't mind the black edition but the deal is only for the lighter coloured model
