If any one goes nuclear, I know who it will be:). By the way Adam is that front panel lifting? Are they screwed down or siliconed?

just had a look at the prices of Honda generators as recommended by members on threads on the subject of generators and I think we'll just use the plunger when free camping, coz that's a lot of coffee for around $2K for a generator
Should be able to get a honda 2 a bit cheaper than that round the 1700 delivered with a few extras. Try generatorplace, still a bit pricey compared to others, but then it's a honda ;-)

Hi everyone,

Not sure if this has been covered but has anyone tried to run a nespresso machine from an inverter?

I'm a bit of a numpty when it comes to 12v power and don't really understand it all.

Cheers Andrew

G'day Andrew,

Not sure if you have already looked, but check out an older thread from ROnEM about setting up an inverter, I copied what he did and the inverter (bought the same as on his thread), works a treat, heaps cheaper than a generator, takes up less room, no noise (some national parks etc, now won't allow generator use).

@Gadgets 21.63.1 More panels where are you going to stick them.. Surround the caravan with portable ones :)
looking to put more up at a later stage. but i will need another solar charger, also wanted to put 4 x 100 amp lion batteries in there as well. so i will upgrade all at once later in the year before our xmas trip. for our cairns trip at the end of june we are mainly doing caravan parks.

I use a woolworths coffee machine, run of a 2000 watt inverter, 2x 100 amp batteries and one 200 watt solar panel, 3 mins or so didn't drop battery voltage, so I made toast with the electric toaster as well, no issue at all!

I just bought a 6000Watt pure sine wave inverter - 3000Watt continuous. $300. It will be powered by two 90A/hr batteries. Just going to run an extension lead from the inverter straight into the Van inlet and turn the Setec off. Sorted. :)

Do u need to turn off setec, mine only has a switch for battery on/off, also wondering if you could plug petrol genny straight into van? Advice appreciated, thanks.

Where do you run the lead? Out The window?

Absolutely plug the generator straight into the van - that's how the aircon runs at night! If you don't turn off the Setec, it will just charge itself from the power it's discharging. Hasn't worked out perpetual motion yet.

I have my dual batteries in the tray of my ranger with the inverter.

The van has the standard 100A/hr battery.
