had a tent, came deadly close to getting a Hawk but could just see it would only be a stepping stone so bypassed it and opted for a secondhand expanda, now the new 16-49 HL

Got to love the Pathy and the 16 footer :) We did the whole Jayco Eagle thing. SHould have gone for the Expanda in the first place. At least we got the 2011 model with the nicer trim. :biggrin1:

Hmm! Tent & Datsun 180B - 1980 , Then still tent through Mid 1980's to mid 1990's, Then Dingo soft floor camper around 1999 to 2003, Back to tent Souther Cross - 2004, Then Jayco 2007 Eagle Outback, Still have the SC Tent, sold Eagle & bought a 2011 16.49.1B OB-. (still got the tent too but left the the 180B in Darwin in 1983)

Got no idea whats next but at least we'll always have the SC tent if we need !

Cheers,

Paul

The evolution of car and accommodation

The usual. Tents, swags, utes and Bourbon grass matress. But as time moves forward so does the desire to be comfy. Anybody can do it hard.

Single swag, Double swag - tarp and poles  '02 Dingo soft floor camper trailer, '07 Jayco Hawk OB and now the '10 HL 16.49-3 Expanda

Although the swags still get a good workout, my single swag is 22 years old and the double would be around 17 years old :thumb:

Hey CD,

There were a few of those Dingos around a while back. Did you buy yours new, he had a yard in Danednong & also down near the turn off for Phillip Island?......... Can't remember his name he had a weird sales pitch..... He told us he had made his money & didn't care if we bought or not...... Must have got him on a bad day !

Hey Paul yes we bought it new from his Dandy yard.

As for getting him on a bad day I think that was just him.........straight to the point.

My brother also had one along with another mate of mine, they were/are a well built Australian trailer.
Mine was an on road (not the Dingo 2000mdl but his own built trailers) that went everywhere we asked of it including seperate trips to Longreach and another to Darwin and everywhere inbetween . I sold it when we ordered our Hawk.

Our progression from 2001....

Tent, offroad camper trailer, viscount areolite, now 17.56-2 Ob. We still have the offroad camper trailer but are going to sell it now as we can't see us ever using it again!

We've had less vehicle though... Isuzu MU and then in 2004 we bought our Patrol new and still have it now.
