When we decided to upgrade our much modded Viscount Sea Breeze to a 2015 Journey 17.55.8 OB we also had to rethink the tow vehicle as we had a 2007 JK wrangler CRD auto that wasn't rated for the weight the Journey was, I didn't want another late model diesel vehicle so was looking for something with a big petrol motor instead, we checked out a few 100 series LC's and GU patrols but all had high millage and where over priced as well as pretty rough, started looking at the JEEP GC range and found a 2006 WH LIMITED with 5.7 HEMI and low km's for less $$$ than anything else we had seen, long story short I was on an outback motor bike trip with some mates and got a call at Milparika one morning from the owner saying he was going to trade it and in and offered it to us for $2500 less than original price, needless to say when I got home 7 days later it was parked in the driveway. We are very happy with it as a tow vehicle and have had 0 problems with it in the last 14 months apart from some normal maintenance and servicing which I do as I'm a mechanic by trade, I recently put a 50mm lift in it with HD F and R springs and Bilstein shocks and that has improved the ride both empty and loaded. Here's a couple of pics because we all love those.

Nice looking car...

I hope to be in the market for a second hand car soon, need to upgrade the Mrs Mazda 2 as it can't tow anything. Was looking at Falcons or Territory's as they're cheap. Might look into an older Jeep...

Are they heavy on fuel?

It's a big petrol V8 so yes, but the comfort sound and performance make up for it, I tow a 17.55.8 Journey OB and average around 20-22lph

We've got a 2015 diesel Jeep Grand Cherokee towing our 16-49.4
Averaging 16l per 100k on our last trip to Townsville.
Travelled over 6000km for $950 in fuel.
