Lawn Hill National Park

A spectacular oasis north west Queensland.
If you a travelling from Cloncurry to Mt Isa it's well worth the couple hundred km diversion. Road is sealed to Gregory Downs then gravel to Lawn Hill. The Lawn Hill road can be quite rough so letting tyres down on tow vehicle and van is suggested.
There are 3 options for camping. In the National Park itself or just before entering the Park are the two sites at Adeles Grove. One site is set down in the Grove, which is very shady and fires are allowed.
The second is higher up and is a generator area with little shade.

We free camped next to the Gregory River at Gregory Downs. We have our own shower but there are free hot showers back over the bridge in town.

Love those places Goliver. Nice spot on Gregory River although we were told camping on the river was not allowed but we stayed 2 nights on the way in and also on the way out.

Now that brings back memories, SWMBO and I camped and swam there back in '99 and had a blast on our trip through the top end and gulf, got to get back there and soon.
