Pace's internal table led strip lighting

well i've done it,finished few days ago though have been hectic with the family (school holidays). as i dont know how to write between the pics here is the brief. got single architave switch from bunnings, measured where it would go fit nicely, drilled hole in trail piece of wood first then marked up the cupboard.holed the switch to pass the wire through then gentley filed out the hole so the wire doesnt grab or pinch. sized up the wire for the wiring route and re located the plastic brown supports for the hole and the other was filed down to pass the wire underneath.results are great.pics are with normal roof lighting (globes), on the another with them off. cheers.

Yeah looks great, just a quick note on the switches though, I'm fairly certain all switches even 12v should be double pole switches in caravans / mobile homes. That is that the negative and positive wires are cut when switched off, however they are about 3 times the price!

I had all the wiring apart and sorted some connections.I followed OEM wiring and switched the positive loop.cheers.

I Might have to check that Burnsy but when I swapped the single gang switch by the door to a double gang I'm pretty sure it was only single pole cheers

Hmmm, maybe it's just the 240v and I was misinformed, oh well can't always be right....I thought I was wrong once before too but I was mistaken!!

You are correct that there is a requirement that 240 Vac outlets and switches in vans being dual pole since they are supplied by leads that can (very rarely) have the polarity reversed. As always, if in doubt consult your local electrician who has awareness of the correct standard for mobile homes and caravans. Don't do 240 Vac work yourself...

Great job on the LED strips, very neat. ;)

Hi all,

Just back from a weekend away and can not recommend some sort of LED lighting above the table enough. Great mods Pace and Capt Gadget.

Awesome, didn't realize what sort of led strip these were until I saw them on a roll at bcf, how cool! Just wasn't sure how you connect the wires to the strip. Do you need to pierce or cut away the plastic to enable soldering?

yeah burnsy, you'll need to splice off the silicon mould to get to the terminals to solder onto.one word of warning though, the glue isnt that sticky so get yourself the 3M 5mm wide double sided tape from the big green shed (bunnings) as it mighten take that well on certain surfaces. see my other thread for awning strip lighting too if you want to see another application. cheers. http://www.expandasdownunder.com/showthread.php/709-awning-strip-lighting-17-56-2

Some advice on these, dont buy them from bcf or any aus retailer for that matter because you will pay anywhere between 50 and 150 for a mere 1 meter strip and they will be there smaller older leds 3032 or something like that.

On ebay search for 5050 led waterproof strip and you will get them for max $30 for 5 meter strip and the 5050 are newer, you can also opt for warm white (slight yellow tint) and cool white (bright white) strips.

When searching on ebay also take note of the leds per meter, there are some strips that will be quite cheap but thats because they have less leds per meter

For 5050 strips you want at least 60 led per meter

Cheers
