hi All,

First time with the Van (new to me 2010 model) up in the rain and noticed water seeming through the canvas up one end of the bed end.

Now its on in two spots as shown by the pics below..

Any Canvas experts around here with some tips. Maybe just need to water proof that section?

2010 model? Can't remember if that's the hard lid or soft lid model but it shouldn't make too much of a difference.

It looks like a canvas waterproofing problem where the canvas has rubbed while folded so I'd guess the best solution would be to get some good waterproofing spray and apply at least a couple of times and really let it dry before packing it up.

The privacy screens wont protect the canvas if the waterproofing has failed, they will only reduce the rain impact on the canvas which should repel the rain...these look to be absorbing the moisture.

Also, just make sure mattress doesn't touch the canvas as that will take up the damp very easily.

We have privacy screens and storm covers and have yet to put the storm covers on...the others are fine in even heavy rain.

I'd buy some Selleys waterproofing and spray it on inside and outside, let it dry, and do it several times till I was happy that it had penetrated completely.

Good luck! I hate a wet bed.

Agree there are some canvas waterproofing sprays that should be able to sort this for you pretty easily

I just go to the camping shop and get a spray bottle of waterproofing stuff, the liquid in the hand spray bottle type, I use it on my drizabone coats as well as the bed ends, make sure the canvas is dry and give it a good soak in the stuff inside and out, let it dry and air before packing up again and all should be good. No leaks on mine to date and it's been thru some doozey storms.......your pics just look like something has been rubbing against the wet canvas inside or outside ??? it will wick thru if it's un-proofed, have spent years in canvas tents and the expanda is no differn't. When it runs freely down usually means a tear or hole.
