Hi all,
New here. Just upgraded from our Outback Swan to the Expanda Outback 17.56.1 Dont receive it till mid september.
Was just looking over the specs and noticed the hot water service is standard only on certain layouts.
Does anyone know what layouts they are?

Thank you everyone for your replies. Spoke to sales rep today we can still get it installed at a cost of $1100, not sure what to do.
Does anyone know if you can get aftermarket hot water systems installed and at what cost?

By the time you buy a hws and fit it run pipe work pay gas fitter to run gas to unit and test it and do paper work for the office of energy I would just get them to fit. That seems a good price

Ours was about that much as an option , and included a 12v pump and external shower as well. As Gibson said, I don't think you could do it any cheaper yourself afterwards.

You can get aftermarket installed, but no where near as cheap as that. If you are going to get that, think about the outdoor shower.

We also have a 17.56-1 and we have hot water with the external shower. That was our trade off for not getting the ensuite. Easier to get it all installed at the factory than having to worry about it afterwards. Price seems reasonable.

ditto 4 kids wanted the extra bunk in the 17.58-1 so got hot water and external shower. Also much easier doing washing up not boiling the kettle for water etc etc.

We have an ensuite but use the outside shower more than the inside one, especially for washing long hair... Hubby installed the outside shower himself, got it on ebay for $100

We just ordered a 17.56.1 and got the hot water and outside shower. Definatly worth having as someone else said beats having to boil the kettle to do dishes. Also when my little niece comes on trips with us we put the big tub around the side(during summer of course) fill that up with bubbles and she bath showers there. Very handy to have. Had it on the swan so getting it on the expanda! Bring on November!

Hey guys for what its worth the hot water is great in a van, we have friends that don't have it and regret it every trip. On a side issue, when using the hot water in our 17,56.2, for showering the hot water didn't last long. We had it on 240 at the time. So I guess the question is will the gas heat the water more instantly and longer then electric? Haven't tested the gas heating yet.

It actually warms up quicker than that and you can run it on gas and power at the same time to speed things up if you have to.

Being only 20 litres (think 10 kettles) it's not that much water to heat to a comfortable shower temp which is a long way from boiling point.

Didnt know you could run them both at the same time. We were told one or the other, but whens it warmed up away you go. Be a long time showering 4 people. Haha
