We were there for a night last August and despite numerous trains on the track below and road-trains on the highway above there was little noise. First time I've ever camped there in quite a few trips. Have noted on drives through there that it does seem to get a bit crowded sometimes so I assume that a lot of people use the many tracks all over the sand hills and camp away from the official spot. Great place but a pity that they destroyed the concrete launch towers for rockets that were on the opposite side of the lake as they added to the scenery. Somewhere in my many slide storage boxes I have pictures taken across there in 1976. It was still all dirt/dust/rocks/corrugations from Pimba to Kingoonya, Coober Pedy and to the NT border then.
