Electrical Factory Awning Strip Light - How do they do it?

I'm trying to install a LED strip light in the awning barrel and need a favor from those who have a factory installed one.

The power wire runs through the seam of the awning. Does it appear that they have run a dummy wire in the other side to allow the awning to roll evenly?

Also how thin is the wire?

Don't think there is a dummy wire on the other end as the wires are small... Can't open the awning to measure as it is under cover but here's a couple of pics to give you an idea.
