Hi, I hope someone can please help. We have upgraded from a swan to an expanda and am having trouble packing up the bed ends of our expanda. The jayco instructional dvd did not work properly, and our closest dealer is 4 hours away so cannot pop in to ask again. Can someone please post a video as to how this process should be done. The way i am doing it just doesn't seem right..... and i do not want to cause damage by doing it incorrectly. Thankyou.

Hi @Greg & Tracey
We pull hockey stick out and have found it works better on our van to put the end frame inside the mattress before folding mattress up and cliiping straps together that way frame doesn't hit dinette.
Push bed base up checking to make sure no canvas is pinched, bed base will stay ajar a little then close lid.
When closing lid we always do it from the middle so as to not put more pressure on 1 strut than the other.

Hope this helps
cheers!

I found that once i folded the mattress up, it needed to be level with the hinge section of the bed base, otherwise the bed base doesnt like folding all the way in. The rear is a little trickier than the front.

Just one more question... when you have them folded up, does your canvas come over the top of your mattress? That is, when inside the van with them up, can you see your mattress or the canvas?

Like described above, be sure the loop bar it all the way down on the mattress. The other thing is that the mattress folds up all good. Our foam mattress is 3 piece, fold up and over from both sides. Be sure to fold them over both (foam type, inner spring - dont know), push the now folded mattress to the outer side of base, strap over inclusive of the loop bar, clip up (we place the hockey stick in the folded mattress too).

While on the outside, we get the upper extreme ends and fold them diagonal inward neatly. Of course if damp, we wipe down with a towel prior to closing up. Then as above close bed base caring to not pinch canvas.

We too are Swan to Expanda and absolutely love the set up time to gain more family time. Pace.

We have a 16.49.3. All of the above, but I put the bed frame under the mattress as I found it rubs against the shower & fridge ends. Then I strap the mattress and close the bed end ensuring the 2 top canvas corners are pulled over to stop it being caught when closed. I also leave the privacy screens attached, so I have two hooks glues to the top on which I hook the screen and tuck it in so that it doesn't get caught as I close the top.

We are on our first trip a week after delivery. So far the only hiccup has been the rear door was hard to close when the top of the mattress (single fold) was catching so I pulled down from the inside. Problem solved. The privacy screen method we wer show is to fold the sides in a put the front bottom corners to the rear top creating a hammock for the sides up out of the way. Seems to work.

In some of the models the tubular frame that the hockey stick fits into can jam against the mattress. It is important to make sure that tubular frame is bending forward before folding up. Even if that means getting your hands in and folding the tube half way and then pulling the mattress out of the way of the folding frame.
Also, it is possible once the bed is folded up to grab a handful of the canvas from the inside and give it a pull. Do this before you close the top lid. This just assists with the canvas not pinching along the sides of the folding bed base.

Also when i close the outside base, i don't close it fully so i can then go to each corner and tuck the canvas etc in to make sure it doesn't squash.
