Can anyone point me in the right direction to get a drop down spare wheel carrier for the rear bar of our 16.49-1 Expanda Outback?? I have sent a message to “burnsie” on this site, but have not had any response, so not sure if anyone else makes them?

I found a wind down underneath was better, I would just get dirty each time I dropped it when I had it on the rear bar and since one rarely needs the spare the argument of hard to get at doesn't wash.....I found it quite easy... Built it myself...

If you weld a box section over the round bar and Mount off that it will hold, did on my old 14.44 with no sign of the round bar failing.

The new vans are now coming with these standard from Jayco so surely (if you are willing to pay the Jayco tax) you could buy it as a spare part. Looking at them at the show you would need to weld a part to the under chassis though.

Here are a couple of pics of my rear spare conversion. I fabricated the bar and welded caps on each end and welded longer support pieces to go into the RHS under the van which allowed me to put an extra bolt in each side for extra support. It was held in the up position by a single pin with a spring clip holding the pin.DSC_4107 (2).jpg DSC_4108 (2).jpg

Remove existing support and weld brackets across the a frame to suit wheel winch then lower and raise under and through to existing position placing tool box on a frame as required
