hi all.
Looking at replacing the old screw locks on the bed ends.
Found these on the net, but can't find their name or where to get them.

Look like a much better option than the screw ins.

Anyone seen these and where can we get the, what are they called.

Try a trailer (truck) supplies company, they sell all this sort of gear for Pantech trailers etc.

Search something like 'Pantech door latch kit' and I'm sure you will find many a varied latch.
Or use a simpler h/d Spring bolt???

I don't have BE latches at all on our 14.44-5. Are they necessary?
The 14.44-5 only has a front fold out bed. Should I install them?

We've got one on back bed only. We asked about front one and were told only needed for back ....something to do with different size of lid and angle of lid.

Front has no latch and hasn't been a problem.

I wouldn't bother if they fold up easily.....and stay folded.

I assume everyone does what we told to do?..............always lock the bed lids for travel, same as all other hatches, doors etc?????gas shut off etc

Our 14.44-4 has bed end latch (over draw bar end) similar to @dagree.
From memory at hand over the fella said it was to do with hs&e as some happy expanda owners where opening lids and beds where dropping down!

Only had the one on the rear bed same as @Dobbie but due to our bed end being a tight fit (Pressure from matress when closed I fitted a second to the other side.

None fitted to the front at pickup but due to a close call (Loading ali box while van sitting on a sloping front lawn) the lid dropped and missed my "noggin" by a few cms so it now has one fitted!

I was hoping not, nothing in my usual Jayco parts listings, if you are unable to rebuild it then I would look at replacing it with something like one of these spring loaded gate latches, available at Bunnings, I have used them on a camper trailer I modded and they work really well I found, possibly a slight mod to the old hinge point to fit the pin and should work well......... I suppose tension required on bed end would be the main issue.
