Hi all. I'm thinking of hiring a caravan for a weekend, prior to buying. I figure I should really give it a test run before I slap down $45k. The van I'm looking at is the 27.56-2 OB, or the new 20.63-1. (But this is obviously not yet available)
Just wondering if anyone can recommend a hire company, preferably north, north east Melbourne?
Also what do you do about a brake controller when you hire a van. I've currently got a 2012 Territory Titanium AWD diesel (2700 kg towing) but no brake controller...... Do I need to fit this before I can hire the van or do the hire companies have some sort of "quick fit" unit they can supply?
Cheers.

I have seen "Britz" expanda vans. I presume you mean a 17-56-2. What is the braked towing cap' of the 20?

Hi Soaring
There is a caravan hire company down Geelong way but I think they don't hire van's that large I will get the contact details for you. One of our friends from Act hired one over Christmas .
They supply a brake controller that plugs into a 12 v outlet in your car and run the wire through the car and out the tailgate
If you would like I can get the details

Maccayak. Whoops I did mean the 17-56. Fat fingers and iPhones don't mix!
Expanda14. Interesting about the brake controller. That system might come in handy for me. I turn over my company car about every six months, and don't want to have install/uninstall a controller every time.

There is a mob in western suburbs a friend hired from and was quite happy. But to be completely unhelpful...it isn't North or NorthEast and I don't know who they were.....:D

Try Eastern Caravan Rentals out Bayswater (still not north or NE tho)
There is also a 'Private Caravan Hire' who I think arrange you to hire someones private van. Might find one close by.

Can't help with brake controller tho.
Tekonsha was going to bring out a plug'n'play removable wireless one that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Don't know if it ever made it to Aust.

So really, I guess this response was no help at all......
