On our 2014 expanda, there is a alarm going off near the brakes under the van. It turns off when the electric harness (blinkers/brakes/lights) from the car are pulled apart. Any ideas on why this alarming or what it means. After towing for a short time the hubs feel hotter on the side which is alarming. Thanks.

Brake alarm??? Theres not to much that can "alarm". The only thing that might squawk would be a dodgy brake magnet or brake shoe. I think the ESC faulting is limited to a red light display.

If it stops when you remove the power a magnet is the only thing that comes to mind. Bearings can squeal but power would have no effect there.

Dual or single axel, can you hear it all the time, stopped, moving braking, exactly where is the sound coming from the brakes are all quiet some distance apart.

If the sound stops when you pull the connection then its obviously not bearings or something spinning, have never heard of an alarm though.....
Do you have ESC fitted ??

Is it an alarm or a loud Hum/buzz ??? ...................... alarm, check breaksafe if its a hum/buzz then I would say brake magnet...

With van plugged into tug as per normal, pull the brake leads at the connectors at the hub, put a meter on them they should show no power if they show any volts then track back to 7/12 pin it could be shorting out, of course if ESC is fitted then it could be faulty.........

Where does it sound like its coming from when you are inside the van ? The BM or Setek unit isn't near the same spot?

Thanks the for ideas. It could be described as a Humm/buzz. Will check the brake magnets, Sound is from under the van near the hubs, not inside. Appreciate everyone's ideas.

Humming is normal, and be loud enough to hear from a distance is not necessarily abnormal
