Hi, we have a 2010 Jayco Expanda and recently our floor has been wet outstide the bathroom. We think the leak is coming from the bathroom sink but behind the wall. We are not sure how to find the leak, or fix it, without pulling the whole wall out. Has anyone else ever had this problem?

If its not splashing from around the door or over it then you have to do a few simple tests to try to isolate the problem. First pressurize your system from mains to see if its a tap, having first dried all earlier tell tales, no leaks then drag a garden hose inside and run it into the sink check for your leakage, run it onto the shower drain this will show if its a drain leak, if not then do same with your van taps, the idea is to isolate the individual possible sources before you dismantle the whole van.. If the drains are still original Jayco you could be getting overflow from the kitchen sink and/or if its a combined ensuite the Thunder can could be leaking, not the yucky stuff but flushing water...... Its not uncommon for tap fitting to come loose behind the wall, its not a hard fix most of the time. Oh and have the van leaning so it drains the way you want, quickens the discovery of possiblities.

Pics are always handy and as much detail as possible as the variations of set ups are many..................... Welcome to the mob, we are the friendliest group online around..................but do keep your thread alive or it will be passed by due to the high number of one post wonders..........

sadly i have had this issue, is it the sink drain or taps? it can also be the shower taps, but water can also be coming from your kitchen sink drain if there is a restriction or stoppage and backup in your greywater drain, if its the shower taps or sink you can sometimes hear it dripping between the walls , fixing the sink taps or drain does entail taking out the sink module , shower means releasing taps and shower hose from wall, kitchen sink drain can be cleared with hot water clearing the pipes. if you find the taps are leaking from the john guest fittings be very aware that over tightning them to the tap base can cause them to split causing trouble later even if the leak stops now, if you have to take out the wall look at the age of the pipes and make the decision to replace or put old plastic back into the sealed wall ,by the way i am surmising you have a camec sink in an ensuite bathroom

Thanks for your replies. It is definitely the sink, we think the hose has come apart or split as we can hear water dripping. How do we take the back wall off?

The wall is held in place by screws and a bead of silicon around the edge, the screws are usually four or six around the outside and two screws that can be seen when the sink is open, first remove all screws then cut silicon with a sharp blade and the unit will be able to move forward , then the hot and cold water pipes can be released from the taps , depending on set up drain line will most probably be just be pushed into the drain plumbing it may or may not be held in with a little silicon , there are two usual issues one is where the sink drain joines the overflow from the sink. With a metal or plastic joinerThe worst case is when the pipe comes away from the drain inside the sink basin ,if you find it’s the one inside the sink post again and I will tell you how to seperate , best of luck

Use a sharpened bit of perspex to slice the silicon then you wont chop the pannelling if you slip..if you shape it like a lini knife works well......

Hi yes you were right, the hose has broken just as it exits the sink assembly. Photo attached.

That’s pretty ackward , don’t lose the end that goes into the sink as replacing that piece of pipe means you have to seperate the two halves of the sink , they are glued together but can be seperated by carefully breaking the glue bead with a thin stiff blade , if your have to seperate sink use new pipe and using bathroom silicon to rejoin the two halves , you could try to repair the drain pipe using SOS repair tape so you do not have to fully replace the drain pipe and seperate the sink body, I personally got so frustrated with ongoing issues with my sink I removed the module and made it into a shelf unit
