Bought one a while back but this style doesn't suit off road style hitches. There's no fixed socket for it to fit up inside of and the DO35 hitch in our case rotates so as it is it can topple over and fire out the plastic domed bush and the top tube sideways with great force. It's a bit of a safety hazard and the tube should probably have a limiting pin. Apparently there is a genuine fitting that replaces the bush and fits up under the chassis rails. Couldn't find one up here so made my own. Works a treat.

I've got a trigg bros hitch and had the same issue..... Ended up getting a jig from one of the hydraulic presses at work and it did the trick!!!!

Similar idea to yours @PhilD but the ends were angled 45deg.
