No question get the ESC fitted without delay...

We had a very scary experience soon after getting it retrofitted, A car pulled out & stopped in front of us while traveling at 100kph.
We had to make a massive swerve to avoid hitting the other car & I am absolutely sure it would have been a very different story without the ESC.
Some people have suggested in the past to "just hit the emergency button on your controller, it does the same thing" while this is true, I can assure you taking one hand off the wheel to find & hit that button was the last thing on my mind.

It should be a legal requirement for all new vans to have a similar system fitted.

My understanding is that the ESC needs to get independent 12v from the tow vehicle. Does anyone know which pins Jayco wire it into in the 12 pin plug? I assume they do not do a second 2 pin plug.

Ours was wired to Pin 2 by Jayco but I changed it to go via an Anderson Plug which I had already prewired on the car before pickup of the van. The Dealer wasn't interested in doing it themselves and left us to drive out of their yard with no ESC operating. I did it a few days later in a Caravan Park. The Dealer hadn't been able to tell me prior to pickup what it was wired to.

I've done the wiring in the Prado in preparation.... HD cabling from the battery direct to an Anderson plug at the back. Got the matching plug in the glove box to get fitted to the van in 4 weeks time!!

When asked our dealer supplied the Jayco 12 pin plug diagram but it doesn't show what pins for ESC only for the fridge. I will be wiring the 12V 30A circuit from the cranking battery to the 12 pin plug prior to pick up but when I get home I am putting a red Anderson plug on it and the fridge will also have an Anderson plug (grey) which is already wired to the towbar via an under bonnet isolator.
I think some dealers or more correctly some salesman have no idea on the wiring.

Our van is wired as per following -
The 12 Pin Plug is wired as follows

"1. Left Indicator (yellow)

2. Transformer (black) positive

3. Earth (white)

4. Right Indicator (green)

5. Electric brakes (blue)

6. Brake Lights (red)

7. Tail Lights (brown)

9. Fridge Positive & ESC (black)

10. Fridge Negative (white)

11. Brake Safe Monitor"

Pin 9 supplies the ESC and the fridge - the above is from an email from my dealer after I sent the question....

Esc is powered through pin 2
9 10 go direct tithe fridge and aren't spliced off anywhere
Jayco wire them this way fr the factory that's also the std way for it to be wired when it has a pre wire as they are hooked into the brake safe system

Mine was retrofitted (before they started pre-wiring at the factory).

IMO money well spent if I ever need it - hopefully I won't.

Was told it needed a dedicated anderson plug if not running through the trailer plug... Yeah sure... Mine is an Anderson plug double adaptor with 30A fuse.

1) This allows me to disconnect the ESC when off road and 2) anyone/ any tow vehicle with a std 7 pin plug and anderson plug can tow my van. image.jpg

Well @rodney - all I can say is that is what Jayco have told me and that is the way my 12 pin is wired! And it apparently works!
I won't bother replying to posts in the future ......
Cheers

@rodney I just did a search through old emails and found one from Jayco Technical that confirms what you have posted - my apologies - I was told one thing by the dealer and another thing by Jayco itself. Go figure!
Cheers

Mine is through pin2 as well, it needs permanent power. At pick up dealer said 50% of tow vehicle plugs are not wired ready for ESC. They said its common or pin 2 to be wired to reverse on many cars, so the ESC indicator light only comes on when in reverse (seems odd but thats what i was told).

I had to get my plug rewired to match after pick up. I have a diagram somewhere from Jayco, if i find it i will post it.
