Starcraft 22.68-1ob hot water system

Hi all

I'm just wondering how everyone uses their Hot water system. At the moment everytime I want hot water I go outside and turn it on then come inside and turn the hot water power point on then wait. (This is when we use it on electric.)Then turn it all off once done. Is this right, or can it be left on to have Hot water whenever we need it? Surely it must be simpler than this!

If running on 240v leave it on the whole time, if on gas you can leave it on but we find it quite noisy at night so normaly turn it off.

I leave the 240v switch turned on all the time. Always have with vans that have 2-way hot water systems.

When free camping, I tend to only turn the gas switch on when we need hot water.

Leave the switch outside on all the time, use the power point switch to turn the HWS on or off, when on 240 leave it on.......It is most important that when you pack up camp first turn off the HWS at power point then disconnect water or turn off 12v pump, when you set up camp hook up water or turn on 12v pump then turn on HWS, get into this routine and you won't cook an element.................................the outside switch is a dinky plastic thing that can break so just turn on and leave on and use the power point, easier and less hassle......doesn't matter if you are using gas... If you are using gas for HW turn on when needed off when not and with a bit of cooking the gas bottle will probably give you 2 weeks, 18 days ??? thats what I've found anyway.....

I leave it switched on when connected to 240v. I never use the switch outside. I connected the HWS to a power board with switches and moved to a place I can get to easy. Now I just open a cupboard and turn on when I arrive (after bleeding air out) and turn off when I leave.
When free camping I turn HWS on 1st thing in morning and off at end off day. (so not on overnight)

As @Vere said which I forgot to mention, when you hook up the water run the HW tap to bleed the air out of the tank or the element can get cooked........Instruction manual should detail about checking and replacing the anode, idea to check every 6 mths and always carry a spare as they can last 12 mths or go in 6, depends on water , quality can be good but mineral content is the thing.

I never turn the switch on inside when running on 240 only the switch outside in the unit.

The white switch with red light is the gas HW switch but there will be a 240 power point near the HWS also which you can use, instead of the outside one . That's on a suburban.

As mentioned above, on 240 I leave the hot water unit on all the time. When running on gas, we generally turn it on for keys parts of the day that it will be needed, such as showers and dishes cleaning.

Leave the outside switch on, and use power point inside (under double bed in starcraft 17.58.3)
