Hi

We are just about to take delivery of our new 18.57-6, and we just got the specs of the new van

Tare 2059kg
ATM 2534kg
GTM 2363kg

So an allowable load of 304kg

We have the 2 x 82L water tanks, 2 x 100ah batteries, 2 x 9L gas bottles, ibis aircon, and thetford toilet

The query i have is:

when the tare is calculated - is water and gas , and battery weight included in that figure.

Becasue if it isn't, there is 164kg of water + 18kg gas + 40kg batteries = approx 220kg of the 300kg allowable load weight already taken

leaving only approx 80kg for food , drink (there's at least 30kg's) , clothing, bbq, annexe, tools etc..............

Speaking about the 300kg load weight I saw a post that saying the load weight should be around 375kg,

is that correct?

Cheers

Richard

Hi Richard,
I have the same van (outback) our weights are similar. Tandem axle with shower should have a 475kg load capacity which you have when you take the Tare away from ATM.....so your beer is safe :)
Cheers.

Thanks for the reply, but bear with me Burnsey and my rationale here

Yes ours is an outback to, but I was taking tare minus GTM as allowable load weight ( GTM 2363kg - tare 2059kg)

The unladen ball weight is 171kg, so with tare 2059kg + 300kg ( allowable van load weight) + unladen ball weight 171kg which already exists and that makes the ATM 2534kg, but still only 300kg allowable load weight

???

I agree with @Burnsy you have a 475kg Payload,
Payload = ATM - Tare > 2534-2059 =475
Ball weight = ATM-GTM > 2534-2363=171
BTW you forgot to X 2 for the Gas & Batteries, so that will leave you with about 195kg for your beer :very_drunk:

As for the question is Gas & water included in the Tare = No, but some people say the batteries are included if they are fitted from the factory, in my experience from talking to different dealers even different salesmen at the same dealer is, some say yes it's included, others say no it's not & others say it once was but not any more.

Yep...ATM minus TARE equals load.
Your gas/water load calculations are correct but you might consider allowing another 35kgs for HWS tank and toilet flush tank if you have one and you travel full.
The vans go on the weigh-bridge at the Jayco factory at the end of the build. If the battery(ies) go in at the factory they'll be included.
My ATM is 2493 and Tare is 2018. Therefore my load is 475kg.
Knock off about 250kg for gas, water, plus one extra battery, TV and two solar panels added after manufacturer. So still a good 200kgs for clothes, bedding, food & beverages.

Thanks xpandafan makes sense, and 200kg might just be enough ;)

Thanks CJ and I've found the same thing especially on the gas, and I can't see why it wouldn't be included

Positive news- The dealer confirmed today that our compliance plate would be restamped to include another 18kg for the 2 x full gas bottles
