Picked up the new Concept yesterday, really happy with it and will post photos later.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what the "thing" on the left of the freezer door is for?

The pictures of it on the Dometic website make it look like it is a can dispenser. But yeah, in the freezer?? Strange:crazy:

Ive always wondered what it was as well. Might try some ice creams and see if they fit. If not, I'll need to eat them :)

Here's Dometic's explanation,
"The part you are referring to is a dispenser for a brand of Ice Cream in Germany and we do not sell them here in Australia.
So it is a good question. Why ? I could not tell you other than that is how it is made.
Sorry I can not be more helpful"
At least we now know.

I can remember when I was a kid, mum used to buy a box of individualy wrapped, rectangular Streets ice cream as an occasional treat.
We used to either sandwich them between a couple of purpose made wafer biscuits of around the same size or stick them in a rectangular shaped cone.
I'm pretty sure they dispensed out the box in such a way that would suit the "thing" on the freezer door.
I'll be looking to see if they are still around when we go shopping this week

Thanks for that Christian I came back to the van after a day out ( after having it for a week) and found the fridge at 7deg and the freezer at -11. Thought that was a bit warm so set it from 3 to 4....... Nothing happened went from 4 to 5.........nothing happened again. Turned the fridge off then on again still nothing. Started to worry looked in the book and it said if there is no fault light but the compressor won't kick in its terminal and take it to a dealer. Really started to panic now looked up the closest dealer which was 3 hours in the wrong direction while the misses went to get some ice to try and save the food. Then the fridge started again. So was a stressful hour and has been playing on my mind that maybe it was a hissy fit and that next time we might not be so lucky. Why don't they put this in the manual? It doesn't even mentioned anything about a defrost cycle. Thanks again I feel so much better.

I know Shane, we picked up our van a few days before Xmas last year and on Boxing day noticed the fridge temp going up and water dripping from the over flow and the fridge would not kick on, amazingly got hold of a fridgie that day and he had no idea and like you came it back on.

After Xmas holidays he changed the top panel then the thermostat and Waeco Australia didn't even know, then after a few months he sent me the defrost cycle it goes into which I would like to disconnect some how as in summer the fridge temp goes up especially with kids opening the door, you can reset it by disconnecting the power so I may put a heavy duty switch in the top vents so I can reset easy.

I think a lot of people don't notice it as you need a digital gauge to really pick up on it.
