Fitting larger rims and/or tyres

Hi all, just wondering what people have upsized to in a larger rim and/or tyre (from the standard 15x7 with a 235/75)? From what we can find, you can't go much larger on a 7" rim so wondering if we'd be better to also upsize the rims to say a 15x8 or a 16x[?] to get a larger tyre on? What's the biggest size tyre anyone has on the 7" rims?

Also since it's a dual axle we need to be mindful of clearance between tyres once everything's fitted.

Any advice/info appreciated. Cheers :)

depends on what your Towing with
my preference is to have same as whats on my car, so I have more than enough spares, and it looks good all the same

cheers

That's a great idea about running them all the same so they are interchangeable! We have a Landcruiser with 285/75's on 16x8's so unfortunately that's a no go for us, though :)

I optioned the Jayco 16" rims when I ordered. Think it was around the $400 mark.
They are a 16 x 7 rim fitted with 245/70 x 16 tyre.

I had a Pajero at the time with 17's so this could have fit in an emergency, but my Jeep has 20's now so no way are they interchangeable....lol

just remember that if you have ESC fitted it will need reprogramming if you change tyre size

you know, I never thought to check the rims to see what size is already there
- I think they are 16" but will have to look when I get home next week.......

they wouldn't tell me if they were Cruiser or Patrol rims, but after seeing some had tried with the Prado Rims, I'm happy to think they are Cruiser rims

cheers

They're definitely not Cruiser rims. All Jayco rims run a 6 stud pattern.
AFAIK all 100 & 200 Cruisers have 5 stud rims.

ok - ok - slight miss-information / miss communication in typing - apologies

6 stud Landcruiser & Landcruiser Prado rims
6 stud Nissan Patrol rims

Jayco said they were Landcruiser Rims as well, I have to modify slightly the rims......
the Nissan's have a larger center hole - but the pattern is the same

cheers

So what size and offset fit, do we know?

When I bought our van there was two options, 245/75-16 and 265/?-16 the later was dropped not long afterwards and aprantley the spare didn't fit, they just handed it to you! I wanna fit 265/75-16 on new 16x7 or 16x8 rims. Anybody done it?

Maybe you can be the trail blazer on this one @achjimmy :thumb:

I have seen an Expanda with aftermarket bigger black sunnies before but I didnt get a chance to check it out properly

Looked into this a bit as I wanted mine interchangeable with the prado, would have needed to change the axle , then for the insurance to be okay with it I would have had to get it replated to 17" rims by an engineer. Filed in the much to hard basket,

Have looked at changing the brake drums on the Panda over to 5 stud pattern to match the Landcruiser, but still need 8" rims…

Not a costly exercise to change the drums over for about $300, but the wider tyre is the killer!

Funny enough just after I decided to do this yesterday I spotted a Expanda at the Parkes BP with 265/75-16 on sunnies. They looked a bit big but he said they fitted and cleared. Will give a 35mm lift by my calcs but will the loss of 35mm under the guards cause grief?

I would be interested to see what the answer is. What about just larger tyres? Can that be done? I must admit when I look at mine I always think the tyres look a little small.

The 15's are already 75 series so not really. My issue with most 15s is they don't have the load rating sufficient for a van nearing 2T. Jump up to 16s and the load rating is much higher.
