After cutting my first load of wood for the year i thought it would be interesting to find out who has a chainsaw ,what type stihl or husky or other, do you take it away in the panda or tug?what size?I have a wood heater at home and it is our main source of heating (we do have gas and a split system).I am lucky to be allowed onto a property out near clunes to clean up blown over trees and limbs from some big box trees which is great burning.I don`t take my saw away very often mainly when we go to gellibrand.I have a husqvarna and love it.

I use mine for work. I've had a Stihl, it was OK but I prefer Husky. Thats what I'm using now.
We dont take it with the van very often, but have done so when the need or opportunity is there. normally I'm trying to get rid of wood so I pre-cut it and throw it in the ute.

Husky 236 e-series for me. Small, light, and powerful enough for general home/camp/firewood duties, with a slightly bigger bar than the equivalent priced Stihl. Easy to start and easy to handle. It is coming with us on our 12 month trip. If i had the need to do tree clearing or had a wood heater at home I probably would have got something a bit bigger, but this suits our needs perfectly.

Cheers

I have a McCulloch. While this is a 'cheaper' model, it is made by Husky and has served me well. I did remove the gimmicky quick adjust for the chain and installed traditional nuts instead. I used it when I did my Certificate II in tree felling alongside Stihls and Huskys and it performed equally as good.

Yeah Millsy my dad has a 236 he carries it in his coaster bus and he's very happy with it.I had a 359 husky but when I got onto this box wood it is pretty big and hard compared with the stringy I used to cut so I sold it and bought a 576 ,much more grunt.

I have a couple, both Stihl and both 20 inch bar. Never take them in the van especially now that it'll unlawful to take a chainsaw in a National Park. I use them for cutting fire wood on the farm, usually rutting rounds then hiring a hydraulic splitter.

Got a Stihl. Not sure of specifics, but I do know it cuts wood good.
If my wife would let me prune the roses with it I would.
Not sure why but my wife has asked if I would like some time alone with my chainsaw.:)

Not necessarily illegal to take it into national parks - hence why I have a cert II in small tree felling which is recognised and allowed by Parks Vic

I think in NSW it's unlawful to have a chainsaw in your vehicle in a NP. Apparently, it's OK if you don't stop in the park.

Yeah I was thinking Vic tho.... (Tas and SA have their regs readily available on-line which state no chainsaws too)
There seems to be an (unwritten) agreeance tho that if the user has their ticket for chainsaw operation, they can carry it and use it for track clearing / maintenance purposes only. I'm very cautious, but that is one of the reasons Four Wheel Drive Vic encourage their chainsaw courses. From what I've seen, it appears to be on a park by park basis here.
DSE advise "be trained and competent in the use of firewood collection equipment (including chainsaws)", whereas NP like BAW BAW have "Use of chainsaws and generators not permitted".....

Always had stihl in the past but have recently bought a husky 440e which am very happy with for cutting firewood. I ended up buying it direct from the US as the price difference out here was too much. Have a look at the US and Australian Husky web sites to see.
I did the same Boots I got mine through eBay USA,they wanted $1799 here and I got mine delivered from the Us for $960 big difference.
