In the interests of a future upgrade (and a reason to spend more $$) this item looks like it may help with preventing a discharge level that might be too low. It appears to have some sensible "cutoff" values that can be selected with the switch on the front. One of these, a smart charger, and a fused distribution panel would nearly do for a basic setup in my (uneducated) opinion.
I now see that the possibilities are endless when you want to set up an "off grid" camper.

Cheers, Graham

Not just the possibilties are endless, Graham, but the Dollars need to be endless !!!
When you get to the point where you realize what you actually need, the Dollar participation just expands at a horrific rate.
There must be some logical ratio involved ?? The smarter = the poorer ??
Fortunately I'm not that smart and we have candles and a peddle generator. Very low cost

A good thought @GrahamHolland. I had a look at this sort of thing in earlier post - cannot find for the moment. The trouble I found was that they had a selection of cutouts at various voltages, but in each case, the re-connect voltages were too far away (higher) to be able to re-connect the loads again quickly. Certainly, you could drop off all or most of the loads for quicker re-connection, but there was no combination I would want to use. My MPPT controller has adjustable settings for both, and I have 11.8v for LVD and 12.2v for LVR and this makes it easy and fast to power up again. Here is a link to another device I have, which is fully programmable for both at a fraction of the cost, but is limited to only 20 amps. I have used it for testing when discharging and recharging a battery under load and it works very well indeed. This could be connected for use to protect battery in your van and would over-ride the setting in your early model Setec. More to think about and spend your money on!!!! I paid under $10.00 18 months ago, but it seems the price has doubled since then. There are also modules you can purchase and put them in your own container etc to save money too.

But only needing a weekend set up and if usung solar anyway cant really see a need to replace the setek myself.......
Did discover a liittle while ago that a whizbang BMPro not connected to 240 and some kid leaves a fan going, the batteries go flat and when 240 turned on the BM wont charge it as its flat ie: 10.8v ....... I pulled the batteries and used a proper charger hooked them back up and everything is happy again...at least the Setek will try to charge a dead stick if you plug it in...
Only charged 4 cold beers for the consult...
