Expression of interest 99% done just needs fine tuning. We spend all that money on a van & it feels like your sleeping in a tent ..I’ve come up with New storm cover design will fit most Jayco base stations & same with the Jayco Expands as aswell, I was sick of the cold , rain , wind , sun & keeps in the coolest & heat aswell. Sides have installation & front has a Louvres for privacy and also lets the breeze through. & that all folds away in the front...Has had a great response on Facebook on the Jayco basestation page...

We actually like the canvas with privacy screen, we can see outside and the ventilation is fully controllable.
When the forecast is for rain etc, we put on our storm covers, dry, protected but it is more claustrophobic and less ‘fresh’ air movement so,this is definitely not for us.

Id have to agree with the above comments, I cant quite work out the point. Bit like buying a boat only to discover, annoyingly, it only works in water.

I kinda knew (its there if you look closely, the giveaway is a tent hanging off the van) that it may well fell like sleeping a tent. The other annoying thing Ive found is that the damn thing also feels like I holidaying in a bloody caravan ... is anyone working on fixing that :o

For some people setting up things at camp is the thing, they sit in boredom until time to go when they can pack all the junk up................I like to park, unhook and that's it, beer o'clock........

I actually think the concept of semi solid expanda bits has some merit. I didn't buy an expanda because I enjoy the sleeping under canvas experience. To me the expandas best asset is to give you a much larger internal space than found in equivelent size 'normal' caravan. I use my expanda a lot free camping in the highland areas of Tasmania whilst attempting to catch trout, so maybe to enjoy the full expanda feeling I need to migrate further north on next trip.

I agree with @White Elliephant, there will be some who will love this idea. We bought our 17.56 as we loved the internal space and the fact that 4 of us can sit at the table for tea. I was actually wanting a full sized van with bunks and seperate shower/toilet. We ended up giving up on that idea when we saw the price of some of these things and the tiny internal space inside 20ft vans (I didn’t want to tow 23ft everywhere!).
We don’t mind sleeping under canvas though, the storm covers are pulled out in inclement weather to keep things warm and dry. I couldn’t be bothered setting up solid walls all the time! Takes me long enough to set the rest of the gear up!
